Single player has been a blast. I've run into a few quirks but nothing game breaking. The gunplay is solid and the gameplay definitely feels like a Sam game.

Performance is fairly mediocre. I get some frame lag running the game at 4K on a 1080 Ti and 3950X. For the game's graphical quality it could run smoother but it's manageable.

I haven't been able to try multiplayer yet. When I tried to join games I got a "different version" error. I tried validating the game but still no dice. Let's hope that they patch whatever is causing this.

Please Croteam, PLEASE, up the max coop player count to 16. Serious Sam has been a staple at my LAN parties. It's a perfect series for it. I'd love to be able to play this with my friends at LANs after this whole pandemic blows over. We can't do that with the current 4 player limit.

Original Review:
This used to be a fantastic game before Update 1 came. Now it attempts to install a rootkit onto your computer. If you refuse the game simply exits out.

Now I can't play a game because I won't let Bethesda install a rootkit onto my machine? Give me a break.

The base game is alright. Mods is where this game really excels though. The sheer amount of content with mods like Frackin' Universe is near MMO status. I still haven't even gone all the way through the tech tree after a year of on and off playing. I definitely got my money's worth on this one.

The Bad: This game has a learning curve and doesn't do a great job at teaching you. We tried playing this at a LAN and the biggest problem was getting people up to speed. This game can also get repetitive after awhile so I typically take extended breaks to keep it fresh.

The Good: This game is a blast to play, and free. If you enjoy survival horror you will enjoy this. Imagine a survival horror game without the predictability of AI. With the right group of players this game is absolutely killer.

The worst part of the game is that it's too short. This game probably has the best gun play I have ever experienced in a game. The dual wielding is second to none. It's just a shame that you're so limited on how long you can enjoy it.

Given the shortness I can't recommend it at the $50 standard price point. It's more of a $30 game.

I originally bought this game to play single player with mods, just like I have done with every other GTA since GTA 3. Sadly, this is now an impossibility. Shame on you Take-Two for killing a game that has brought me hours of fun.

Hotline Miami 2 is my GOTY 2015. The gameplay is intense and addicting. The story falls into place as you play through the game. The soundtrack is absolutely superb. This game oozes atmosphere, style, and soul. Do yourself a favor and play this game.
