Well, for one I'm actually not screwed if steam goes down, and that's by design, and two, you realize aside from disk check based drm, there's a lot of physical media that does require net verification of keys? Additionally, It's not like I can't purchase drm free titles digitally or physical media that is drm free just because I use steam.

90% of all pc games are now forcing you to use steam.. aka DRM... aka if steam goes down your ♥♥♥♥♥♥... nothing has been proven to show what happens to your games if steam ever goes under...

buy a game via CD... or well get a game other means, keep it forever, doesn't matter if steam goes down...
