I WANNA RIDE MY BIKE

I think I will skip the introduction with this one and go directly to the point, why? well, it deserves a direct review so, let's get this started.

Knights and Bikes is the story of Demelza, a little girl who lives on a little island of the British coast, Penfurzy Island, where life is not easy but with the help of a friend, Nessa, and the power of imagination, everything can be possible. Our adventure will make us travel to every place of the island and through the history of the place to uncover the secrets and the treasure that could help us save the place we live and love. Spirits, folklore, dungeons and a great innocent sense of humor, it's a really heartwarming story about how kids will make their best to help their elders.

Must say that story was really neat, it's a classic "The Goonie" adventure that will show you how 2 kids use their imagination to create their own adventure in order to make the difference that will save their home and their things. It's also really great to see how they used a layer of folklore to make this adventure even more cool, knights, creatures and legends with that British aura everywhere, it's really great to see how a cave can be a dungeon full of perils or how a dump can be the kingdom of a bad person. it also shows you how Demelza is facing a really terrible reality that will be told through the story, seriously, really heart touching.

Visually the game is what you would expect from a team of former Media Molecule workers who founded their own studio, absolutely beautiful, all the aesthetic is unique and really beautiful, hand-drawn and with a really good palette of colors, sound and music are also really great, as it's based in the 1980's it's really easy to hear not only the music tendencies you would expect from that era but also sounds like the arcade which nowadays can't be found that easily. Gameplay system is also really simple, you walk, you ride your bike, you pet Captain Honkers and fight against the bad spirits of the Island, let's be clear, the game it's made to be enjoyed and not to be a challenge, it's a really easy game but that's exactly the way.

So, is Knights and Bikes a good game? absolutely, if you are in the mood of an innocent adventure like The Goonies, this game will make you enjoy your time, it's beautiful, story is great, characters are really good and in general is a very satisfying experience.

I totally recommend to check out this unique adventure, enjoy Demelza and Nessa's journey.

Shadows Kill, stay in the light

I don't think I remember how I discovered Lightmatter, I think I was exploring the Steamdb looking at the last uploaded pages of that day when I saw it and I was "Damn, this really looks interesting, has a lot of Portal vibes and the main mechanic sounds great" and then just started following it until the release day came and here we are now, reviewing a really cool puzzle game with tons of great moments, so let's get this review started, shall we?

Story is really simple, you are.... you who get's stuck in Lightmatter Technologies, a massive installation where the CEO and founder, Virgil, alongside his scientists are experimenting with a new type of power source called Lightmatter, clean and self-sustainable but something goes wrong and shadows become dangerous as they absorbe all matter, so to escape our only chance is to use light sources to open our way, explore the installations and discover the secrets inside.

Must say that this game is full of Easter Eggs and references to another game, please, do not miss them and explore as much as you can, I'm sure you will love them, also, listen to what Virgil says, you might remember someone similar who started his carries with shower curtains and lemons.

Technical aspects of the game are easy to describe, a really cool visual style in which Light and Shadows are the main resource with a few touches of color here and there, all with a cell-shading effect that looks really good also, the scale of the installation is stunning, you will feel like a little person exploring an enormous place. Sound is subtle but works really well, voice acting is really well done and music creates a cool atmosphere. Performance is not bad at all although can't say it's the best of the best, game ran really smoothly tho so I wouldn't say my experience was bad, if anything just a few fps drops before each level but once charged, smooth as butter.

And game's length will depend on how fast you solve the puzzles but it will probably take around 3-4 hours in the first run, less if you are doing a second waltkthrough or more if you are taking pictures of this great installation non-stop.

So, as my final thoughts, I enjoyed Lightmatter a lot, and I really really recommend it, it's a very well done game, puzzles are great, characters are good, story is simple but works and all this sense of humor is as nonsensical as Portal 2 which is FANTASTIC.

Please check this game, I think you will enjoy it.

Time is broken, it's time to fix it

Quantum Break is still one of my favorite games of this generation of consoles, I have always really liked Remedy games but somehow Quantum Break is special, very appealing for me in particular, while I think it's not as perfect as Alan Wake, QB and the story of time travel feels great and it mixes a potentially good story with a very massive technical aspect. Let's dig in and find out why this game is still one of my favorites.

Story is.... good, it holds up and while it's full of inconsistencies, it's entertaining, it's time travel, you can really mess up things with this kind of rules but still it's a story that keeps you there with great characters and a good sci-fi setup, it's a Remedy narrative game so, you know you are into something weird. I know I know, a lot of people did't feel the story and it might be quite mediocre for most of you, however, I can't really explain why it's entertaining or enjoyable, it's just those two things for me. Can't forget about the show but unfortunately I must say that's forgettable, but HEY! there's also this thing of... Remedy's shared universe ;)

Now the technical aspect tho. that's another story, game is visually impressive, I can't really express how much I like it and how impressive it is at moments, the whole time fracture theme with the "time waves" and the physical representation of fractured light makes Quantum Break one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen, this is also the first Remedy game that uses the Northlight engine and to put it simple, it's probably my favorite engine when it comes to light treatment, in general I think part of why I love this game is because of the light and the atmosphere. Now picture is nothing without sound so what about it?

Sound is really great, powers sound is a mix of electronic elements and synthetic sounds, it's actually really great and the soundtrack? Remedy style if you know what I mean.

And gameplay is very enjoyable with the powers, quick movements, dynamic covers and while the gunplay is not the best the whole powers system makes it very fun to play, some combats can be really spectacular.

In general I can safely say that I absolutely recommend this game, can't assure you it will be the same for you and you will also love it, but I feel like saying that you should totally give it a chance and see if you can enjoy it, I sure did. A multimedia game that not always feels like the best but when it's good it's really good. Please check it out.

Wild hearts never die

Story completed so I think it's time to make a review about this tittle, let me tell you that it's going to be in my top 10 best games of the year as I loved it a lot.

First things first, it's a very personal story about self acceptance and the inner fight of feelings, a journey through emotions that are inside us, sometimes in order to be happy we must fight against those negative feelings that won't let you accept who you are. It's a very interesting way for storytelling, music and rhythm, Story is short, you can beat it in like an hour BUT the game starts here.

Visually the game is absolutely spectacular, everything is very chromatic, neon looking and everything moves, scenarios are very dynamic and I can assure you that it's absolutely nuts to move through the tracks, camera job is very well executed, each card has different elements and each world is unique, from very natural to very industrial, it makes the game feel fresh at every moment.

Music is SUPERB, top tier, I loved it, it makes you feel excited at every moment, it makes you want to complete it and make sure you follow the rhythm correctly and beat your own score until you get the gold ranks. and speaking of gold ranks... as I said earlier, once you finish the story you don't reach the end of the game, on the contrary, you are just starting it as new modes unlock in this very moment, non-stop mode is something stunning, and let's say there are a few more things, making replayability a very attractive incentive to get better scores.

Let's not forget about gameplay, essential part of every game, it changes constantly, main core is the same on every level (get as much points as possible by making the level as clean as possible) but here's the catch, as each wild heart is different, the gameplay changes to make it feel fresh and when I say changes I refer to go from Thumper to Initial D and then jump into REZ, doesn't make much sense for you? well, play the game, you will understand soon enough.

In conclusion, Sayonara wild hearts was an absolutely marvelous surprise and exceptions were met, story is perfect to get you ready for the real game, replayability is something to keep in mind, and the game is something so unique that I really recommend to check it out, it's a very special game and deserves love. One of the best surprises of the year.

Wild hearts never die, love always win.

A great adventure set in the Star Wars universe

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an adventure set between the episodes 3 and 4 of Star Wars, a mere few years after Order 66, the great purge of the Jedi, we will play as Cal Kestis, a young survivor of the purge that never ended his training as a Padawan, for years hiding from the empire, one day he gets discovered by the empire and that's the moment when our adventure will start.

Our task is to find something that will help bring back the Jedi order, following the clues of an old member of the order, we will go up to 8 locations through the game, we will fight the empire and their inquisitors, find the clues of this old member of the order, survive the hostile environments of this places and face our past to become a complete Jedi.

Characters, I must say that, while some situations are not that well driven and end a bit too quick, the general impression is that characters are well constructed with a solid background, the more you talk to them, the more you learn and surprisingly it helps to the general story of the game as you find out why this crew sticks together.

There are 8 locations in the game, 2 of them are just part of the story and only accesible in such moments, however the other 6 places are accesible as soon as they appear in your holographic table in the ship and completely open to explore as you want, however you will be limited by your abilities and backtracking might be required to completely explore the map, a map which level design is absolutely amazing, the complete size of the maps is stunning, one of the greatest points of the game, really strong level design, what about visuals? visually this worlds are beautiful and breathtaking, game does a good job to look as good as possible, it's not the strongest graphical showcases of this year, but, the artistic direction is so good that it balances everything to the point that it might be one of the best looking games for me this year.

General performance, I put the game on epic settings and the game ran at steady 60fps at 1440p most of the time except when the game had to load some section of the map, usually when you are riding an elevator or going through one of the thin hallways, at those moments drops were noticeable, however, nothing troubling as it happened in non-action sections of the game, still, take in mind that you might face this sort of problem at some point in the game BUT general impression was that the game ran really well and performance was correct, you should find a very satisfying experience.

Gameplay, I found gameplay really fun and really satisfying, as you start as an inexperienced padawan, you start as a very weak hero but the more you explore and the more you remember, your power grows to the point where you are an absolutely beast, Jedi powers are really fun to use, push, attract, slowdown time, all this things help a lot making the combats very dynamic and pure spectacle, I swear some combats could be part of one of the movies, specially certain boss fights in which movement is quick and powerful.

And I think that's about it, game took me around 14-16 hours to complete with most of the planets at 88% of progression, my experience with the game was a really good one and I had tons of fun even if I'm not a big fan of Star Wars, overall it's a really good adventure game with a very well done combat system that makes you really feel like a Jedi, I absolutely recommend to check this game out and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I could not finish this review without saying that I'm really happy to see EA is back to Steam and with this first game reception has been overall positive.

May the Force be with you, player.

We need to go deeper?

Well, the time has come, back in 2016 a teaser for a game called DARQ was released, that teaser looked so good that it blew my mind, time passed and it wasn't until 2018 that the game reappeared with another teaser (game development was being shown actively on Twitter tho) and it looked different but even better than the first one and here we are, 2019 and the game is finally here, was worth the wait? let's find out.

Does the game have a story? Yes, there's something behind the scenes that pretty much tells you that something happened and that's why you are in this nightmare world, is it essential to enjoy the game? absolutely not, the game can be enjoyed pretty much for what it offers at a mechanical level, just looking how the stages change but yes, there's something hidden that you will have to find out.

Game looks absolutely amazing, it's a black and white with some color touches world, color is not predominant as it's just a few touches here and there but that really helps to make a better atmosphere, as you are exploring your own dreams expect crazy things, impossible perspectives, radical changes of the stage and a very dark tone to every single place that makes you feel like something will jump on you at any moment, seriously, the game has tons of those "WOAH" moments when something happens, don't really want to ruin anything as you will enjoy it more the less you know.

Gameplay scheme is really simple, walk, change perspectives, solve puzzles, run and interact with objects, it's really simple but works perfectly, puzzles are intuitive so you should not get stuck by the difficulty, however there are a few puzzles that might be tricky just because of some elements of the game, but nothing too problematic, in general the game wants you to pass the tests and enjoy the experience.

Sound is correct, spooky in fact, and music is absent or very very soft, to be honest I didn't feel like something was missing but it's something some people will notice but seriously, this didn't have any negative impact in my experience, sounds from the stage elements and monsters were more than enough to make me feel nervous one or two times, so there's that.

And that's pretty much it, length was about 2 hours and I had a really great time playing it, stages are imaginative, the game is a very well looking one and in general is something different, I found what I was looking for and that's more than enough for me, absolutely recommended, if you have doubts watch the promotional content of the game, but as I said, the less you know, the better, I really hope you enjoy the game as much as I did and hope this review helped you decide to get in.

Remember, we need to go deeper or....

Vane is a game I have been waiting for since 2014 and let me tell you, it has been worthy

So, to put some context to my experience with this game I must tell that I have been interested on this game since it was announced for the first time at the TGS 2014, it looked so different that I fell in love with this project, it went radio silent for a while until it reappeared at PSX 2017 as a "PS4 first" game and I was very happy to see that it was even better from what I remembered, the game came out on PS4 January 15 2019 and the time has come, just a few days it released on PC at last, so I couldn't be happier, I finished the game for the first time and now it's time to express my thoughts.

Let's start with the hardest part, what is Vane about? to be completely honest, I'm not entirely sure and what I understood of it it's just a personal interpretation of what it showed me, there's an ancient civilization on this world, something happened and now only the ruins remains at the big dessert and something awakes, I don't really want to say what I think it happened because it's something that everyone must try to discover, so far I thing it had some destiny/time loops that are tied to what awakes, there's some kind of religious meaning and something related to how this civilization operates, so, this is something you will have to discover by yourselves.

Now the easy parts, graphically I must say that it's probably one of the prettiest games I have played recently and surely the most beautiful game I have played in 2019, IMO there's no thing that comes close to what I saw in here, everything looks like a painting in motion, even the camera moves to specific angles so it can recreate wonderful scenes, the world and structures are out of this world, something as small as a kid exploring something as big as giant ancient structures and remains of what once was a city, something shocking at times and maybe I'm really biased in this very specific aspect as I always loved this feel of structural immensity but this game made me feel small from the beginning to the end of the game, just amazing.

Sound is low and not very noticeable, however, once the OST starts, wow, it's powerful and boost the scale feeling and the emotional impact, when I say emotional impact I mean the emptiness of the dessert, the absurd size of the structures, even the low light areas so they feel terrifying even when you know there's nothing in there, sincerely, it's an amazing OST and the all the sound part of this game is amazing.

Gameplay tho, this is where I thing most people will be less interested, the game is about exploring and resolving really simple puzzles because it wants to show you something, not to keep you doing tasks, the fact that your main action is walking through the world might not appeal everyone but if you don't mind this, it works, I didn't mind at all, in fact I was expecting this so I had what I expected, game offers what it promises.

The technical aspect of the game is well done, however sometimes you might end up stuck in between some elements of the scenery (a wall, a rock...) and the camera sometimes gets weird angles and you end up blind, non of this is game-breaking tho, might be a bit annoying but nothing really serious.

In order to end this review, I want to say that I loved this game, it's at my personal top 3 of this year and the wait was absolutely worthy, I will try to get the 100% of this game step by step and, while I don't think this game is for everyone, I sincerely say that you should totally check it out, might not be what you were looking for or even you didn't even know about this, but I really hope you like it as much as I liked it, so please, enjoy this little piece of art.

Baba Is Review!

What an amazing game, right now, the moment I'm writing this I haven't finished all the levels but I played more than enough to tell what I think and express my general impressions so, here we go!

Baba is a really special game, the concept was pretty unique since it was announced for the first time, the main concept of this game is "you don't play under the rules, you make the rules" and that's awesome, there are tons and tons of different ways to play the game, and that's what makes Baba something special.

The game is literally a playground for you to test with different combinations, just a few are correct but not because of that you should not experiment with the options, A door can be the key, a Wall can be Baba, A tree can be water, almost everything is possible with the right word combination and that's just awesome and the puzzles are not something that easy to get, some are really well thought and a bit tricky.

Visually is really simple but effective, it's a pretty standard pixel-art with a a great OST at the background, nothing too laud but something more soft which is great.

There are a lot of levels and content waiting for you to play with, it's an amazing game, something really different and unique and deserves to be explored, really recommend this game to everyone, it's a puzzle adventure that makes you consider all the possibilities when it comes to make the rules work, tbh, if you like puzzles even just a bit you can't go wrong with this one.

Hope you all enjoy it because it's amazing.

Ok, let's start by saying this was my 2018 GOTY, why you might ask? well, first of all I love languages so a friend of mine told me to check this game out, best decision I made because I ended up loving it, the game lets you play as you want so I choose the pencil and paper route by trying to learn a bit this artificial language and make my own sentences, that made me love that much this game.

The Story is simple, you find a computer that belongs to an ancient extraterrestrial civilization and in order to make contact with such machine you need to comprehend not only the language but also the background, the meaning of the sentences and expressions.

To such task the game offers you a diary with guidelines in order to make you understand the structure and composition of this artificial language, how to make sentences, some notes about the meaning of some expressions based on the game's story, so you can choose how to make this, the easiest way is to use the diary and just that but if you want to try it the same way I did, get a paper, a pencil and start "studying" the language with the few guidelines the game gives you, at first it will be a bit weird but slowly you will get things in order.

To be honest there is not that much to say about the visual or audio aspects, visually is just a panel with symbols and your diary that it's handwritten, other than that there's a black background, and sound? just a soft song that will be at the background, but that's more than enough because this game is about what you can learn about language, the structure and the meaning of things.

I know this game isn't for everyone and it's kinda difficult to recommend because it's so niche that it's hard to find people that will appreciate it but I will do my best to give you my most honest opinion and I hope this review gave you at least a glimpse of how much I did enjoy this experience, consider supporting this and I really hope you enjoy this game, I sure did and the result was the most satisfying experience of the year.

Doomslayer, this was just the beginning!

So, first things first, I was actually surprised that I didn't have this review on Steam, why? because I thought I uploaded it back in 2016 but it looks like I never saved it so, it's time to finally do this and update the original text to include details that will connect both Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal, so, let's get this thing started.

Let's start with the story, you find yourself waking up chained on a Stone sarcophagus that it's on one of the UAC installations on Mars where a demon infestation has been unchained by a Hell Portal opened by the same human organization, our objective is simple, get your guns and kill the monsters. Then what's the difference on this entry of the Doom Saga, well, first this is a re imagination of the classic but this time they wanted to start something with lore, that same lore can be found on the different parts of the UAC Mars installation, from notes that will comment on little things to documents talking about how Olivia Pierce started her religion, what the company found in Hell, what's your place on all this and even parts of the past where you discover the sentinel prime and guard thing. It's actually really great that ID made some background to build a rich universe with an interesting story, it's not the main motivation of the game and players that just want to kill demons can do so but those who enjoy the little details will be pleased finding little pieces of the puzzle, it's a great entry point to something bigger.

Gameplay is the real thing here, Doom is meant to be brutal, to be visceral, to be enjoyable while firing your double shotgun or the BFG9000, this is something that ID did amazingly well, combat is dynamic, it's bloody visceral, I can't add nothing that hasn't been said already, it's just amazing how well it plays, something really special and with the ID DNA all over the place. Let's also mention the level design, platforms, jumps everywhere, everything is set in self-contained zones but designed to be a well connected labyrinth, it's really fun to explore.

Sound and music are amazing too, Mick Gordon did an amazing job recreating the original feeling but with a modern touch, combating while listening the loud metal-electronic mix from Gordon's music is cathartic, everything flows between music and visuals.

I can't give you more reasons to buy this game, it's a really good game, it plays amazingly well, sound design and music is cool and it's the first part of something bigger in terms of scale, Doom is a game you should all consider buying because I don't think you will regret.
