It was a copyright infringement notice.. Valve were legally were obligated to act upon it.
They could've delisted the games then and there and not offer any grace period at all, they didn't have to offer that at all. You can't hold them accountable for acting upon it.

However, the representative handling it going OOO during the grace period was very much in bad faith considering there was nobody else to deal with it. No mediation etc.
Valve only contacted developers that Nukearts had sent notice too, that's why it was some and not all. Picking and choosing was not Valves doing.

This is apples and oranges though. Valve is not the problem here. Like I said, their hands are tied.

@Zakarie: Valve are absolutely not innocent in this. From setting a "oh and I'm out of office until then, gg enjoy" deadline to just themselves renaming games by developers, Valve handled this in their typical muddy way. In another classic Valve move, they also only contacted some but not all of the affected developers. You know all this. So, uh, I don't know how anyone can continue to use this platform. Let's all delete our accounts, or negatively review Alyx, or...

I'd assume that both the person not giving a ♥♥♥♥ on the Valve end and the patent office people who think this is a great trademark to award are better paid in their jobs than whoever Nukearts is, too. Why do you refuse to hold them to any standards?

It's like when the Fine Bros tried to trademark the word 'React' 10 years ago and they got publically ridiculed for it.
Reaction content is it's own genre and the fine bros didn't invent it, they just capitalized on it.

Nukearts did not invent Hidden Cat games. They're just the first to patent it.
I don't know how anyone can continue to support that and continue thumbing up their future releases and drop announcements about their game sales. Consider changing your mind.

It's not necessarily about review bombing them, it's more targeting the bigger voices such as yourself. You are an admin of a large Hidden Object group afterall.

With the Hidden Object Fest coming up in April 2026, next month, it's important to get other people talking about this who may or may not be aware of it. Do you not think? it's not politics nor is it picking sides. It's about exposure and doing what's right by the people.

Valve had no choice to enforce this because it was a trademark filed in the US, even though Nukearts is a Brazilian based company. Valves hands are tied.

@Zakarie: Imo, focusing efforts on the root of the problem would be a more effective use of time than contacting curators and reviewers. Asking people to remove reviews (which often take hours of work) has a very limited practical impact. To make an impact, bringing attention to Valve's involvement in this situation seems far more productive, both in regards to them supporting injustice and how rudely they handle the whole thing.

Review-bombing no longer works either, since Valve has adjusted its review score algorithm to exclude these reviews from overall ratings.

While I support the cause and I do sympathize with developers who are affected by it, I refuse to involve myself in political debates due to personal reasons.

Lastly, regarding week-long deals: these posts are intended to be purely informational, not promotional. As such, discounted games will continue to be listed in those posts, including the ones mentioned, at least in the content I personally publish.

You are apart of a larger hidden object group and any help especially to talk about it and get more people to notice is very important. What they've done is very damaging!

Please consider removing your curated reviews for NukeArts Hidden Cat games, from HOG Group and your personal lillys corner. You are also promoting their games in the HOG week long deals.
They've copyrighted the words "Hidden Cats" and have striked a lot of developers on steam so they've been forced to change their titles/description and even edit their games to remove those words.
