I've known of this game and yearned to play it for as long as it has existed, but unfortunately for me it never seemed to get published on platforms available to me... Until recently. It's not every game that makes you confidently say that the ten whole years of waiting for getting to experience it were absolutely worth it, but Journey definitely does! It's just breathtakingly gorgeous in every way. In the beginning I was a bit unsure of the multiplayer aspect of it, but even those fears were unfounded: after meeting many travelers along several journeys, I can safely say that this is likely the most wholesome online multiplayer in existence and it might've restored my faith in humanity a little bit. All in all I can't think of a single thing I would've disliked in this amazing game.

Yet another great installment in the Rusty Lake series! It contains pretty much everything the series is known for: intriguing puzzle settings and somewhat messed up stories that always reveal a little bit more about the universe. What I liked the most in this game was the branching timeline and the ability to freely move back and forth between the branches, which meant that even if you got stuck in one branch you could move onto something else and let that particular puzzle rest for a while. On the other hand it was a little bit sad that because of the long time span of the story the individual puzzle rooms were much shorter than in other games of the series, sometimes taking as little as a couple of minutes to be finished. But even with that this game was a lot of fun and I can't but recommend it for all puzzle enthusiast and especially for the fans of the series!

Another great installment in the Rusty Lake/Cube Escape series! The game itself offers the same sort of content as do the others in the series: solve all the puzzles located in a single room and try to hunt down the achievement. However the new sort of setting/story does set this apart from the other games well enough to keep things interesting. The only negative side this game has are some technical difficulties: the game runs in Flash which gives it some peculiar gimmicks, but fortunately nothing that wouldn't be resolved by a quick search in the community hub. These problems are why I wouldn't necessarily recommend this game as your first Rusty Lake experience, but if you have already checked out some other parts of the series and are craving for more, you are surely going to have a lot of fun with this one, too!

This package of nine separate escape room games was put up to Steam in order to preserve them after the end of Flash games era, and boy am I glad the developers decided to do that! It would've been heartbreaking to see games this good vanish into thin air. But now they are here and if the genre interests you at all, I can't recommend this package enough. Back in the day the quality of this sort of games varied quite a lot, but these are definitely all in the top tier. They offer a macabre, weird story that slowly opens up one game at a time and puzzles that are not only sensible but extremely fun, too. There's also a hint system that was added specifically to this version of the games. It's not perfect and for example didn't offer any sort of solution to the one single point where I got utterly stuck, but mostly it seems to work well enough. And even if the vast majority of the actual puzzles are understandable, there are also some extremely cryptic achievements that make me wonder how on earth have they ever even been discovered in the first place. But as it's easy enough to either ignore them or search the solutions from the internet, I won't have that huge complaints about them either. All in all this package of games is truly one of the best ways I have spent 4 euros in my life.

I really love the whole Quell series and Reflect might be my favorite one of them all. It offers the same sort of puzzles as the first one and adds in just enough new mechanics to keep things interesting, but not so many that things would turn overly gimmicky. Just playing through the game and collecting hidden gems is very relaxing and fun, but once again there is also the option of trying to complete every level in perfect moves - and that can get really dang difficult from time to time! Whether that's just a nice challenge or a frustrating feature depends on the player, but fortunately the game also has a really good hint system in case you end up needing some help. All in all this is one of my favorite puzzle games that you can easily just pick up and play no matter where you were when you last saved the game!

Who would've thought that the best escape room puzzle game I have so far played in my life would be available for free on Steam? Not me at least, but that's pretty much what this game turned out to be. I loved the genre as a kid but I'm not sure if I ever finished a single game, but the difficulty level of this one was much more manageable than in any of those old Flash creations. The puzzles were just hard enough to actually make you think, but not so impossible that you'd get truly frustrated. The atmosphere of the game was also really neat and from the technical point of view everything worked pretty much perfectly, although I would've appreciated an option to save the game. Pretty much only real complaint I have is that in order to find a password for some secret puzzles you'd have to apparently dig through old Instagram posts of the developers and that's just waaay too obscure for my taste. The game itself should in my opinion include all of the tools necessary to access it's content, even if it's hidden deep into it. But other than that I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with this game and can truly recommend it to everyone who loves a good old-school puzzle!

What a delightful little game this was! It has truly one-of-a-kind art style and interesting puzzle mechanics that keep you smiling all the way through the few minutes it takes to complete one playthrough. I would definitely play a much longer game based on the same idea, too, but this does also work nicely just the way it is. Definitely give this a try if you feel like spending 10-20 minutes with an adorable, light-hearted puzzle game!

This is one of those games that would earn a neutral rating from me if Steam had such an option. The game is a nice point-and-click adventure with atmospheric music and there isn't anything inherently wrong with it; it just doesn't quite live up to what its descriptions are promising. It uses tags like horror, dark, thriller and supernatural, but as soon as you get to the part where you'd expect all of these things start to happen it just sort of skips all the action and goes straight to the ending, which was a huge letdown for me. The game is based on a short story so this might be the fault of the original material more than the adaptation, but as I have only experienced this game it's all I can really comment on. But then again the game is also short and free, so there's not much to loose if you want to try it out yourself.

A really enjoyable search-the-room sort of walking sim game. I liked pretty much everything about it but was especially impressed by how well the game ran on a potato-quality PC. ='D I'm used to modern 3D-games lagging a lot on my poor old computer, but this had no hiccups to speak of! The story and puzzles were all really fun and I guess my only complaint comes from the fact that I would've wanted more of it all, and that's definitely not a bad sort of problem to have! Especially as the developer is apparently making a sequel which, if it will be anything like this one, I will be more than happy to try out.

This visual novel was quite a mixed bag for me. From a technical standpoint it was pretty much as good as a free game of this genre can get; I especially liked how many different choices there were to make and how easy it was to deduce what route would lead to what ending. But the story itself was, well, horribly depressing and downright messed up. I do love dark themes in visual novels, but when every scene was literally nothing else but sadness and misery, I just started to feel like I could've as well turned on the news. The messed up part was that the whole game basically revolved around the difficulty of staying by your dying girlfriend even though you are a horny young man. The loneliness of people who take care of their terminally ill loved ones is absolutely a serious subject, but I just felt the way this game handled the theme was quite... Icky. And when this game crowns it all by having no good endings, just game overs, I just can't say I would've enjoyed my time with it enough to recommend it.

Also hedgehogs are not, in fact, rodents.
