A classic sequel to a classic game! It takes all the building blocks from the first Portal and expands the basic ideas to every imaginable direction. It's mostly a good thing, but I did also get a feeling that the game could've easily been split into two separate games, which would've given every new gimmick a little bit more room to breathe. Now some of the neat new mechanics felt even somewhat underused, at least in the main story mode. There are also a bunch of fun co-op courses and some not-as-fun achievements tied to them, like time trials and no death challenges. But even if I have a few negative words from the package as a whole, all in all it's still an entertaining game that continues the legacy of the first part very nicely.

It's easy to understand why this game is such a classic as the story mode is a purely great experience! The puzzles are really creative, the dialogue never stops to amuse me and the ending song might be the best one in any video game. The game also has some extra modes with added difficulty levels that indeed can get insanely hard - especially the skill level required in time trials is something incomprehensable to me. Otherwise I would be fine with their existence, but it does irk me that there are some achievements tied to them, so there's literally no way you can complete the game 100 % unless you are into speedrunning strategies. The achievements are also pretty glitchy, so even if you do manage to beat everything you might have to do some poking around to even get Steam to acknowledge your victory. But overall these are still minor complaints compared to everything that is good in the game, which is well worth playing through!

This game is an all around beautiful yet thoroughly sad experience quite unlike any other. Despite the dark undertones you'll spend most of the time wandering in beautiful scenery where it's possible to almost forget the Lovecraftian mysteries and gruesome murders you have previously witnessed. Therefore the game avoids feeling too heavy when you are playing it, but when you've gone through the ending you get (or at least I did) a feeling that this game might stay in your head for some time - in the best way possible.

There's (for some reason) two different versions of the game that are bundled together: Original and Redux. After playing through both of them I'd recommend Redux, but only if your computer can handle it in medium or higher graphic settings. That's because at least for me the lower settings completely destroyed a few very important details that were integral in solving a couple of puzzles. This problem wasn't present in the Original version, which on the other hand doesn't include some quality of life updates that were made for the Redux version. So choose your poison, as they say! But in the end the version doesn't matter too much; both of them are really enjoyable and definitely worth playing if supernatural murder mysteries tickle your fancy at all.

If any game deserves to be described as exceptionally atmospheric, it has to be this one! The art style together with music creates a one-of-a-kind experience that captures really well the lonely, cold and mysterious feeling of spending time in a wintery forest somewhere in Nordic countries. (The game takes place in Sweden but I'm from Finland and the feeling was eerily familiar.) I also loved pretty much all of the puzzles. A couple of them went over my head, but the game has a really good hint system to keep you going even if you do get stuck. The encyclopedia of mythical creatures seen in the game was a dang cool addition as well, as without it the story could've felt a bit too cryptic. All in all a unique game very well worth checking out!

To put it shortly: this game is plain brilliant! When playing you realize very quickly that it is going to be quirky in some way, but then things escalate from 10 to 1000 in just a few minutes and you can't but be very amused and a little bit horrified at the same time. And even if the game keeps the over-the-top approach going the whole time, during the ending(s) there is some genuine epicness mixed into it, too. Telling anything else from the game's story would be major spoilers, but I can say this: yes, there will be ponies frolicking on flowery fields, but not quite as much as the title suggests. There's also Missigno. And Jesus.

An interesting short walking simulator, where you rummage through old items in order to make the protagonist remember their past and tell their story to the player. What I respect in this game is that it handles its subject much more realistically than most games of the same genre, showing how fickle human memory can be and how emotions can color those memories in drastic ways. To give the game even more realism there aren't any sort of menus or stats available at all, though in my opinion it was taken a bit too far. I for example managed to accidentally close the game by pressing Esc because there was nothing that would've told what the game's controls actually are. As there isn't Save feature either it was indeed a rather annoying mistake. The game's ending is also a bit cryptic, but fortunately not overly so; it gives a rather strong idea what the whole story could've been, but many things are still left for speculation. But yeah, even with minor complaints, I think the game was very much worth checking out! It was a nice little mystery to dive into.

I have really fallen in love with this sort of games: explore something to unravel the story behind it. This time it's, like the name suggest, mainly one room that's filled with objects that remind the player character of something from the past. That past includes a few teenagers who pretty much all have very problematic relationships with each other, which does give the whole game a pretty depressing overtone. It's not necessarily a bad thing, though! What I do complain about is how it was rather difficult to tell what objects you can interact with and what not, especially when going through the computer files. The last puzzle was also more cryptic than I think was intended, as the game gave a hint about the answer's location, but it was a code hidden in place filled with date numbers. But still, all in all, I could recommend trying out the game if the genre interests you. After all it's free to play, so there's not much to lose by giving it a chance!

One of those games that sure are... Something! I liked the art and music a lot, and I think I do get what the story was aiming to be, but for me it didn't quite get there. I'm all for dark themes in visual novels, but this felt like it was all the time so over the top that it was really hard to actually feel anything for the characters. But then again I did read how some players found the protagonist extremely relatable, so I guess it's just a personal opinion. (Though I gotta say: yikes!) The game was also short and really straightforward without any sort of choices or alternative paths, which made it even more difficult to form personal attachment to the story. All in all not the worst 90 min of my gaming life, but I don't really see myself ever returning for a new playthrough.

A nice little bite-sized exploration game with some horror vibes. Honestly I would really want to like it, as I do appreciate the atmosphere, some of the puzzles and the basic idea, but the execution is sadly the thing that pulls this into the "not recommended" side of the scale. There are a lot of small bugs, sound levels are somewhat poorly balanced, grammar isn't all that good and the game is so dark that most of the time I didn't even see the things music and dialogue was trying to warn me about. These wouldn't be a huge issue if the game was free to play, but it isn't. The price is small, but still something I wouldn't ask for a game this unpolished.

This is exactly how you make a sequel! The first Mimpi game had some major issues with slippery controls, repetitive puzzle types and annoying hint mechanics, but every single one of those things had been improved a lot in this game. Now it's much easier to enjoy this cute feel-good puzzle platformer! The difficulty level of the puzzles had been lowered a little too much to my liking and the game was pretty short compared to its price, but those are just minor flaws in an otherwise nice package. The only real complaint I have is about some really nonsensical achievements, including for example dying 1000 times. Considering I, a pretty mediocre player, didn't die even 100 times during my playthrough the achievement seems really awkward - especially as trying to get it results into you purposefully killing the adorable dog character over and over again. =')
