I've played my fair share of walking simulators, but this one certainly went to a direction I never saw coming - and I loved it so much! Another nice surprise was that the game was decently interactive considering its genre. It's also really short, but at least in my case that was just a positive thing, as I was looking for something exactly like that when I decided to try this out. All in all considering the game is even free to play I would absolutely recommend giving it 30-60 minutes of your time!

What can I say: Disney's The Lion King is my favorite platformer, so it was so cool to see it make a return to the general consciousness! Aladdin I had never tried before, but it also turned out to be a very entertaining game. On top of the actual games there are some extra goodies included in this package, like interviews and artwork from the development stages, which is always cool to see. Pretty much the only negative thing I can think of is that the menu layouts aren't all that intuitive, so for example finding the Game Boy versions of the games requires a bit more work than you'd think is necessary. But overall this is a very decent package that I would recommend for any retro game fans!

A bite-sized visual novel with very beautiful art and serious themes. The game handles subjects like depression and self harm so it isn't exactly light stuff to play through, but I think it's quite an exaggeration to call it a horror story (especially Junji Ito inspired one). That's why I might've had a bit wrong sort of expectations about it when I started playing, but even so I did enjoy the hour or so that was needed to get to every ending. It's always important to have this sort of games around, even if they certainly are not for everyone. If you are a bit on the edge about whether you want to give this a try or not, hey; it's free, so there's not much to loose! But also certainly bear the game's warnings in mind.

Games of this series are the only completely story-free puzzle games ever that have managed to keep me entertained for more than a few minutes. I just love the calm atmosphere as well as the puzzles that work a bit like ice floor mazes in Pokémon games. I also really appreciate how the game lets you choose the difficulty you desire very subtly: you can aim just to get through the puzzles, but if you want more challenge you can choose to search for hidden gems or - hardest of them all - try to complete the puzzles with the least moves possible. Especially the gem search was a lot of fun, as it made you look the stages in completely different light! There is also a hint system, so you won't get forever stuck even if you were hunting the achievements that are tied to the more difficult tasks. All in all a very lovely puzzle game to play for example before going to bed!

A short and (bitter)sweet dive into the American history mostly from nature's point of view. You'll get to watch how the last few centuries have treated a beautiful river area that is full of tiny, easily missable details. Your main objective is just to wander around and pick up items that trigger story snippets that - as far as I understood - were written or said by real people of that age. All in all the game seems to put a lot of value on historical accuracy, which is certainly a refreshing thing to see in a video game. And when all of the profits made from this game are even donated to environmental charity, I can only recommend giving this walking simulator a try!

FF IX is such a precious game to me as well as my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time. It really feels like it has it all: larger-than-life story, interesting and distinct characters, beautiful visuals and downright perfect music. There's also almost ridiculous amounts of optional content, which was of course a great thing in the '90s when there was no internet to keep you entertained and you could only buy a new game every few months or so. Sadly the person responsible for the Steam achievements of this game hasn't apparently realized that times have changed and it is no longer exactly fun to face challenges that would require hundreds of hours of mindless grinding. Achievements for getting characters to level 99, beating 10 000 enemies or jumping 1 000 times in rope jumping without tripping? No thanks, I think I'll pass. But other than that this port was a delightful blast from the past that I can wholeheartedly recommend to any Final Fantasy or traditional JRPG fans out there!

An interesting digital booklet about the making of Portal 2. It gives a great insight into how the game came to be and what shaped it into the final product. It also takes rather good advantage of being in digital format by implementing things like videos, music clips, panorama views and even a couple of micro games for the reader to mess around with. Unfortunately some of that sort of content was apparently pulled from internet and, because this is already a rather old publication, they didn't really work anymore. Because of that I think it's rather unfair to ask money for this, but if you are a fan of Portal series and manage to snag this thing from a sale, I think it is worth of your time!

This is one of those games that are really hard to describe without spoiling everything that's interesting in them. Basically it's a walking sim with a narrator who comments all the things that are happening in the game and most of the storytelling happens through his words. If that doesn't sound interesting, you aren't going to get much out of the game. I found it rather fascinating though, especially when it started to become clear that the narrator isn't an all-knowing one: he is just a human. (Although even if the developer uses his own name and voice in the game, the narrator is of course just a character based on him. But to what extent isn't known for sure.) In the end the story ends up having many thought-provoking and very humane layers. It asks some interesting but maybe even somewhat uncomfortable questions. All in all I think the game is worth experiencing, but the price tag is quite high when compared to the amount of content in it. Picking it up from a sale would be a good decision, though!

Well THAT'S how you make a weird game about depression, anxiety and obsession! This game is a short and bizarre experience that at the same time is very direct and also leaves a lot up to interpretation, which makes it certainly an interesting mix. I think that's why there are a ton of theories about the hidden truths of the game circling around, which amuses me very much, because in the game you see a character trying to do the exact same sort of analysis on a thing that to the player seems like an obvious waste of time. That's honestly a really dang clever way of making a commentary! I can only imagine the creator of this game looking at the camera like in The Office when people present all of their wild theories to them. =D

Wow. I haven't been this disappointed in a game in quite a while. Most reviews I read were downright praising this game, but all it really did make me feel was frustration. It started nicely and seemed to be developing into something interesting, until the darkness literally came and the game turned pitch black. The first "follow the light" invisible path was already almost funnily easy to fail, but then everything turned into Slender and you had to play fetch in completely dark forests and mazes and what even with the most worthless flashlight I've seen in any game. I somehow stumbled through it, but then the freaking invisible path stuff makes its return - now with added platforming! I honestly don't know what I was doing wrong as not many other people seemed to struggle with this nearly as much as I did, but I just couldn't make my way through this part at all. (EDIT: I did get through it eventually, but it took unreasonably long time and was as far from interesting as anything in a video game can be. Who even puts difficult platforming into a walking sim?!) The character just kept sliding off the platforms or deciding to not jump at all, and every time you failed you had to start all over again. At this point I just wanted to rage quit completely, but the game decided to be quirky and literally not let you shut the game by any normal means. I also read that when you get to certain endings the game does stuff like changing your monitor's background image, which I feel is just that tiny bit too much, as if you don't have your old bg saved you might not be able to get it back anymore. So no, even though I really wanted to say otherwise, I cannot really recommend this game. (EDIT: The true end was pretty and all, but what does a nice ending mean if the journey didn't feel like it was worth the time spent on it?)
