This was a nice little visual novel with a rather unique twist. In the game you can affect the story by two means: by choosing your actions like you do in most visual novels, but also by assigning certain stat points to your character at the start of the playthrough. For example if you give the character a lot of fitness points, they can unlock new options that require physical power and also get better results in certain already existing tasks. As an idea this is really great and it expands the game's possibilities by vast amount, which does sadly turn out to be a two-edged sword, though. Sure, it's nice to have a lot of content to go through, but at least I started to eventually get that "searching needle from haystack" feeling when I just couldn't figure out how to get into certain scenarios. Some technical improvements would've surely helped, like having some sort of flow chart to see what routes you have already gone through and where are the points you haven't been yet. Currently the only indicator of such things are Steam achievements, and they can certainly be rather cryptic. But even with all this I felt like the game was worth checking out, especially as it's free to play! For the most part I had a lot of fun, and only grew frustrated when I couldn't unlock a couple of routes that required rather specific stat points and/or choices.

Woah man, what a game! By some god's grace I managed to avoid spoilers of this really nicely and only knew it was not going to be what it first looks like when I started playing. And it was freaking beautiful! 8'D It's really difficult to say more without spoilers, so I'll leave it to this: definitely give it a try, but keep the trigger warnings of the starting screen in mind. Other than the actual game mechanics or plot, I really loved how beautiful art the game had! It really made it feel like the developers went an extra mile for their product. Pretty much the only complaint I have about the whole game is that you don't really know the extent of the data the game keeps track of, which makes reaching the good ending on your own unnecessary difficult. But as seeing it is sort of a bonus more than the end goal of the game (and there are of course walkthroughs for it - just don't check them out before you have gone through the game on your own first) it can definitely be forgiven for this little gem of a game!

What a well crafted sequel this game was! It didn't continue the story of the first game, but instead told another one with the same style: go through a discarded phone's data and figure what had happened to the owner of the phone. The first game, "A Normal Lost Phone", had some roughness around the edges, but I think pretty much every one of those had been smoothened out in this one. I felt like the first game revealed its story a bit early, but this one kept its cards pretty nicely hidden: you had the puzzle pieces and you could suspect how they'd fit together, but you couldn't be sure of it until just before the end. The phone's owners decisions were also more sensible and not nearly as rash as the youngster's from the first game. It was also a nice touch that during the end credits the game gave a few sneak peeks into how things progressed from there, which left a nice feeling at least for me, even though in reality the person searching the phone couldn't have learned about any of that. So yeah, if you liked the first game, definitely give this one a go, too!

Wow, this film did really darn good job in capturing the game's atmosphere in mere ten minutes! Also Jorji was in it, which makes it automatically great. ='D But in all seriousness very much worth watching if you either have played the game or are otherwise interested in it!

Aaaaa it pains me so much to give a negative review for a highly praised game like Yume Nikki... And I really do like the aesthetics of the game and the community, fan art and fan theories around it, but the gameplay itself just isn't my cup of LSD-tea at all. I think I gave the game a fair chance by playing it for about 5 hours and managing to find 18 effects, but the idea of going back to it to comb out rest of the effects that are hidden in mazes inside mazes inside mazes is plainly said off-putting. So yeah: interesting experience, but not something I would like to go through again.

I finally got to play this third entry of my favorite visual novel series, and I'm really glad I did! Tbh I was expecting something worse based on all the negative opinions I've heard, but I'd say this was a decent finale. I was having so much fun with the last parts of the game when the plot started to seriously kick in and questions were finally getting answered! Sure, there were things that left weird holes to the plot, but that's sort of a thing we've already had to deal with in this series pretty much from the beginning; it was to be expected. If you can get past them there sure are plenty of intriguing twists and turns in the story, and especially the last few hours certainly had that familiar Zero Escape feel to it. The first half of the game felt a bit less interesting thanks to the quite unique story structure that maybe worked better on paper than in an actual game. Also the flow chart of the plot was for some reason made to look like so much more complicated than it actually was, which was a really odd choice. But still, even with all of its flaws, the game was indeed very much worth playing!

Oh man, so great to have two of my all time favorite visual novels on PC! And most of the things are still the way they were when I fell in love with them: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane stories, ridiculous but lovable characters, incredibly atmospheric music and really entertaining puzzles. The first game did get some new additions, and even those are mostly good things: voice acting and flow chart of the story's timelines are especially invaluable. More questionable changes were made to the game's graphics, text modes (they had to sort of mash up the two screens of DS into one, and I don't think the solution they went with is the best possible) and one important puzzle. If you haven't played the original version none of these things are likely to bother you, but I personally was a bit irked by them. But still, even with some minor flaws, this package is an absolute piece of gold among the visual novels! I definitely recommend checking these games out.

A colorful and amusingly psychedelic puzzle platformer that I really wanted to like. There are good parts in the game, yes, including some very neat puzzles and surprisingly well working underwater levels, but most of the time game wasn't all that enjoyable. The biggest problem is the control system that sort of feels like you are constantly walking on ice, which makes especially jumping difficult in a very unnecessary way. Some of the puzzles, for example rope puzzles of the later stages, are also frustrating and plainly just not fun. Fortunately the game does have a hint system to make some of the stupidly difficult parts doable, but even that isn't perfect. For some reason most of the time you have to literally play Tetris to unlock the hints, which interrupts the main game pretty badly. Also the last time I tried to unlock a hint the game just gave me a picture of trollface. That's not exactly what I wanted to see after already trying out everything I could think of, leavign a rather bad taste in my mouth after finishing the game.

A cute story where child's imagination tangles seamlessly into mundane everyday life. But that's exactly what it is: a story, not a game. I do like walking simulators, but this one didn't feel like it benefitted of being a game in any single way. There weren't places to explore or secrets to find, but instead whenever the game did give control to the player it was just walking a few steps from A to B or very rarely pressing a button to activate the next cutscene. The visuals were nice and the storytelling was interesting, but in my opinion this would've worked much better as a short film than a game.

A beautiful little game in a bittersweet, sad way. The graphics are very cute and sprites surprisingly expressive, music is very atmospheric and the story is intriguing (and from time to time pretty relatable for me personally). Gaming mechanics are a bit unpolished and feel clunky every once in a while, but that doesn't affect the overall experience too badly. Playing through this was a few hours well spent!
