I didn't thought I will enjoy this game that much, but it's pretty good. It has 3 game modes, one of them is a story mode which doesn't seem much at first, but the story telling has some minor but clever elements.
Gameplay starts out easy, but can be difficult to master it, even though it gets addictive, the story mode is pretty fun. I also enjoyed the Blood Race mode, and Slaughter is fine too.
I played it on Windows 10 without any problem, the only issue I faced first is the weird camera mode, which I was able to change to something more bearable.

It's a pretty good budget game which is perfect for a few hours of fun. If you got some time and you don't mind the top down view of vehicular slaughter, give a try with Zombie Driver, you won't get disappointed.

Victor Vran is a more casual ARPG, where upgrade your character with equipment, activable skills and cards, instead of upgrading in a skill tree. Weapons have their own 2 different skills which you can use, and also you can have activable skills which you can fill up with rage in different ways. Surprisingly this formula is quite fun and understandable for me at least, because the weapon stats are also clearly described. Also, the player's movement is fast, as you can dodge and jump aswell. With jumping you can also wall jump to reach places which has no other route to, however this mechanics is not that well used, except for the secrets.
And yes, the levels have some secrets which can give additional equipment and gold. Also, each level has set of challanges for additional reward, even if you beat the story you get additional challanges to complete. Playthrough the story itself, you don't need to do any challanges, or even beat every level in the game, only just what is necessary to do. However, if you feel overwhelmed, there is a casual mode for the story only, whch makes the game more simple.
The game has a great atmosphere, where you mainly explore a city and it's outskirts. You can see many cementaries, crypts, mines, city districts, old houses and so on. The enemies are also fits for these areas, as you will fight skeletons, vampires, essence of magic and other elements and many more.
The story is fine, it's a good motivation to explore the game and the voice acting is surprisingly good.
Finally, the game can be enjoyed in coop and pvp, too.

However, my main complaint for the game is you don't feel that powerful even if you level up as much as you can. This might not sounds a bad of thing, but I think if you level up and get better equipment, there should be a clear indication that you are indeed strong and can take on the enemies without much issue, but in this game it feels that the enemies overscale you, and you will need to resort to tactically dodge and take out your enemies, instead of using raw power. Again, this might not sounds bad for some people, but it just seems to me that the amount of experience I gain and whatever equipment I get serves me no purpose, as I won't be that strong at all.
Also, some of the enemies and their attack seems to be close to impossible to dodge, and you will resort to use some cheap tactics.
And some of the weapons won't hit the enemies when I attack right next to them, like for example the rapier. I have to move away in order to start hitting the enemy again, which makes no sense to me.

Overall Victor Vran is a really fun ARPG for those who are interested in the genre. It takes a more casual, but action oriented approach which has it's pros, but also has some cons. If you are interested, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
Also, as far as I know the Motorhead DLC is peak, although I haven't played it myself.

This will be a long one to cover... honestly I'm quite conflicted about this one, but here it is.

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut is the definitive edition of the complete TIAoVH series, containing all 3 games in a single playthrough, some fixes, quality of life changes and using the third game's graphics engine. If you want to experience this ARPG series, this is the perfect game to go to.

One of the two strongest points of this game is the atmosphere and the protagonists. Throughout the game you can explore all kinds of natural environments, steampunk city, alternative dimensions and so on. With these the enemies in these regions are different and most of them fit pretty well. Also, some of them are unique to see in general.
The other point I really like are the protagonists. In general, Van Helsing and Lady Katarina are not interesting characters at first, but their interactions and conversations with each other are pretty good, and you can genuinely smile about them. It's fun to follow their development throughout the games and how the story affects them, which gets more interesting in the final third of the game.
I also have to give credit for the many easter eggs and references this game has. At first I thought some of those are just really unnecessary, but it's fun to see all kinds of game and movie references, even to see some Hungarian or other cultural references.
Gameplay can seem overwhelming, mostly because of the various and big skill trees this game has, which can give you a lot of options to upgrade your characters. There are 6 different classes with similarly big skill trees, also Katarina has different skill trees as well which can be cool to explore. There are side missions to do, secrets to find. I was able to play through the game for around 30+ hours, so there is enough content to see, and also there is a post game gamemode and different multiplayer modes... and I didn't even mention the co-op mode.
Controls seem overwhelming at first, but after some hours of practicing you can get used to it. Sounds and soundtrack is pretty alright too.

However, as much as I try to say this game is a huge and varied experience, I must talk about the negative aspects, which I cannot ignore even though I have a bias towards this game.
Firstly, the overall gameplay can be really boring in different parts of the game. The first third of the game has larger maps which if you want to explore fully you will start to get bored by the same type of enemies and the lack of changes. Later thirds of the game gets better, as the maps get smaller and start to feature some more variety, but in general it can get old to kill a bunch of monsters and upgrade your characters when nothing much is going on.
Also, if I want to be honest the post game gamemode is not my favourite, which is just featuring repeating missions which are like different game modes and challenges. Sure, it can be interesting for some, but it was not for me, especially since there was no reason for me to play.
Then there are the upgrades. As I said, the skill trees for each class and for companions is pretty big, which can give you many options to work for, but at first the player has no idea what it should upgrade and what direction it should go. This wouldn't be an issue, if the skills would be effective, but not every one of them is any good, so you would need to experiment a lot, which can get you more frustrating situations when you die a bunch in that process. Luckily, later you can reset your points in exchange of gold, but this can be annoying to finally realize and start to figure things out again.
In my playthrough I felt that some things were underutilized in the game. One of them are the shops, which in my case I rarely used because the items you can get from there are even worse than what you could get from drops, so I always get hundreds of thousands of gold. Then there was the lair management aspect, which looked promising but it was only good for getting a few items and gold per mission. Same for the chimera element, which I felt was completely unnecessary, even though I try to utilize it as much as I can...
and probably the most annoying part for me, the game didn't add more ideas or work more on the existing ones. If the lair management and missions would have had more impact on the game, or if the chimera had more role at all, or if the tower defense segments would have more sense to do other than completing just another mission, the game would have been much more interesting.
Sadly there are other things, like how the graphics look not great quality wise, occasionally flickering on some parts of the game as well. Also, I died more times because my character attacked an enemy when I clicked, instead of moving to the location, because somehow the enemies' clicking area is bigger and you won't be able to move around them, unless you move your character with the arrow keys.
And I didn't even mention the fumbled final act and the final boss fight, which just felt like an afterthought.

This game is like a conventional ARPG, which seems varied and more bigger on the outside, however once you get more into it you will see it lacks on some parts, and either you stay to see some cool areas and go on with the protagonists, or leave the game as it is.
I can recommend it for those who know what they are getting into, because this is not for everyone. If you have the chance to play the game's first 6 hours and you still feel like playing more, then you should be fine. Otherwise, you can skip this one.
For me it was alright, but it could have been much more if the ideas are better utilized.

If you have played the first Dead Effect game, you roughly know what to expect. This is basically a budget zombie/mutant FPS which plays on a space ship. However Dead Effect 2 tries to expands on the last game and adds bunch of content and game element, which makes it better than the last game, however this is still not that enjoyable.

Dead Effect 2 is pretty lengthy, thanks to the bunch of missions in the story which gets harder after each one you complete. You need to get better weapons, equipments, new skills and even implants and upgrade all of these in order to beat the game. You can collect money and items from missions, and there are bunch of game modes to play in order to get stronger and you can also complete side missions for more rewards. There is also a multiplayer coop and versus mode in the game, which seems to be somewhat active nowadays.

But even though there is a bunch of content in the game, it's really boring. Every mission plays roughly the same, every area looks the same, you always fight those 8 - 10 different enemies which just levels with you, story is not interesting and dialouges are soulless. The side content gets repetitive very fast, however you are somewhat force to play them, otherwise you can't continue the main story due to being under leveled. Graphics did not aged well and it looks plastic like. The sounds are not mixed properly, as I can't differentiate a sound which sounds close to me for something which sounds further from me on the same side, both sounds the same.
Also once you figure out to play with melee weapons and use guns for the more difficult but rare enemies, you can mostly get past through the game if you have the patience to do the grinding for more levels and additional equipments.
Finally, in order to finish the story you need to own the Escape from the ESS Meridian DLC, which contains 10 more missions. I really don't understand why the devs didn't added these to the base game.

If you are just curious how the Dead Effect series continues, I guess you can give a try with Dead Effect 2, but otherwise I can't recommend this game at all. If you are fine with the repetitive gameplay which gets boring and grindy pretty fast, you can try to get it for less than 3€, but otherwise you should skip this one.

The only reason I played this game is because I had it in my library for so long and I had no idea what this is.
I'm a bit sad that I waited this much to try out Binary Domain, it's such an underrated gem.

Even though I had no expectations for this game it's a surprisingly a well made title. Graphics are still looking very decent to it's time, the gameplay is fun and barely slows down. Gunplay feels good and you can also order your teammate or even choose your teammates for some of the levels in the campaign. There is a trust system between your character and to your teammates, which effects to follow your orders and even the story, too. Story is surprisingly well written, and I really like the dialouges in the game. Each character in the game feels different and it's really good to observe the writing of the game. Although the game has a lot of "tough guy talk", it's not annoying to listen to. Music and soundtrack is also pretty alright, too.

The only really annoying aspect of the game (at least for me), is the controls. It's not easy to get used and even configure it, as the game is a console port. Also, aiming with the mouse on my system atleast (Windows 10) behaved weirdly, as it randomly started to accelerate my sensitive sometimes. I had to mod the game to have proper mouse sensitivity and get used to the controls. Also, sadly the multiplayer is abandoned, but that's somewhat expect from a 10+ years old game.

I can definietly recommend Binary Domain if you haven't played, you won't regret it. Getting it on sale is a good deal, but it easily worth 10€ even.

Back in the days I tried to understand and enjoy this game, but I never had the patience or the understanding for it, but recently I manage to get through the game on Normal and tell you what: this game is amazing and it worth the suffering to finally understand how it works.

The gameplay is the highlight for sure. You are always on the edge and never really safe. Even if you have an all star team of soldiers or have a decent financial situation, the anxiety is still going to be there on each mission and situation, you need to make good calls to survive and think ahead. Sure, once you figure out the quirks and shortcuts you can do for the management aspect, that become more easier but I still stand to my point.
The graphics is pretty decent, the sounds are fine although the soundtrack can get old after playing for 30 hours.

However if you own the Enemy Within expansion, the base is going to feel like a barebone experience. Enemy Within adds some custom missions, upgrade trees, new items and much more which makes Enemy Unknown a really good strategy experience. I also liked the Slingshot pack, however that one might be bit overpriced considering the content it has, but it's alright.

Probably my only main annoyment with this one is with the UI. Many times I couldn't move my units inside into a building or to a different level because my cursor highlighted a different tile then what I was aiming at, or finding an action on the UI. Also, a couple of times I had troubles to figure out if a certain cover protects me from a direction properly or not.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is alright if you just play the base game, but I think with the Enemy Within and the Slingshot pack it becomes a complete experience. If you have the mood for a real strategy game and the patience, give this one a try for sure. It's playable without any fix on Windows 10. I can definitely recommend to play this one (not taking into account the weird EULA 2K has for their titles).

First of all, the idea of Anomaly: Warzone Earth is cool in general.

In the game you play as a commander who command it's convoy to reach it's destination and using pick ups like smoke, repair or airstrike to keep your convoy alive against turret alien enemies when moving through the level. You have a set map which contains streets and roads, and you can decide where you want to turn and on which crossroads. Getting through the level you encounter different types of enemies and get access to new units and equipment. You can collect money to buy new units to your convoy or upgrade them mid level.
I also have to say that the controls are pretty straightforward and easy to get into.

At first I was really enjoying the game and how unique it is, also later levels gives additional challenge when you have a time limit of some sort or have a lot of enemies to take care of and need to micromanage your skills.

However as I played more the game become flat and started to get difficult, thanks to the less frequent checkpoints.
Like I said, the idea is cool that you are the "wave" of a tower defense game, and even though the game introduces different units and different challenges in the story mode and challenge modes, it's just not enough to keep the game interesting, because you doing the same thing constantly. Plan your route, start moving, use abilities and repeat, and this combining with the less frequent save in later levels can make the game frustrating. And yes, you can't manual save your game and basically you have to finish a level to save your progress.

I tried to enjoy the game, but I couldn't continue from the Tokyo chapter. There is effort in the game, but for me it's just not enough to play it long enough. I can't recommend this game, even though the idea interest you. It's not worth it.

Renegade Ops might seem like a simple, short top down shooter, but it's surprisingly fun.

Graphics and visual effects looks pretty good for it's time, sounds are also fine. Gameplay is seem pretty basic: you roam around the level to complete objectives and deal with the incoming enemies, and you also proceed with the story in the mean time. Some of the levels has secondary missions, which are optional to complete. On each level you collect points for a scoreboard, but also you can collect XP for your character and upgrade their skills. Also, you can choose a couple of different characters, who all have their on skill, which you can activate.

The reason this formula works especially, is because Renegade Ops gets to the action immediately without much pause and also, the story and the dialogue is not that deep, it's like is from a B action movie. The game is all about the action, blowing and dealing with enemies, and the player can experiment with the different characters and skill set too.
And I didn't mentioned, but Renegade Ops has a coop mode which makes the game more interesting.

However my main problem with this game was the controls, as it's something I had to get used. You can also roll and fall a lot with your vehicle, but once you get used to it, it's pretty decent.

If you don't mind playing top down shooters and you also don't mind the B action movie type of story, give a try with Renegade Ops. I can definitely recommend to get it, but not for 13€, try to get it around 4-5€.

This is tough for me to review.

On one hand, this is clearly a meme game which features different game genres and basically gameplay in each of them. I should not expect much, but to be fair the game's universe was alright to explore and some of the genres are decently done. Visuals are also mostly fine, especially since every game genre it covers has it's own type of graphics.

But on the other hand the game genres are implemented on a basic level and the controls are janky. Also the humor sometimes doesn't really work to me. Story might seems short or not properly ended for some.

I think this game can only be really enjoyed if you are somewhat aware what you will get and set your expectations right. To be fair, for a meme game it's actually pretty well made in my opinion and I can recommend just because of this, but make sure to learn a bit more about it before you get it. 12.8€ is steep for it, get it around 5€.

I honestly don't understand why so many people like FEAR 2.

Sure, the audio and visuals for this game is pretty good in general and the story mode is an okay-ish fun, even the characters in the main story and their interactions were mostly fine, but the other aspects are either bad or could have done better.

The story's idea is honestly not bad, which focuses a bit more on Alma and how the whole situation evolves from the previous game, but I expected more out of it. Truth to be told there are few highlights, but that's not many. Although the first FEAR wasn't high on the story elements either, but I expected the devs will work on this part more here.

However the gameplay is poor. Most of the maps are uninspired and has even less ways for exploration and finding alternative routes comparing to the last game. Also, most of the props on the maps can't even hide you properly when you crouch behind them, and there is no leaning function either. Enemy AI is flat, they are more into kick or moving covers or jumping off from railings just to get close to you, rather than doing some basics strategy or anything. Difficulty levels are really weird: basically on Normal you can run and gun almost all levels and with a few exception the game is not that challenging however on Hard the game become more unbearable. Since you cannot properly fight from covers, you must peak the enemies with your whole body, and because of this you are always in risk. You can't really strategies, when you barely have any mechanics to use for that, and this is not that annoying on Easy or Normal, but on Hard where the damage is high this makes it a hundred times worse. This gets worse in the Reborn DLC, which is short but the difficulty is ramped up, but atleast you can play it through once if you have nothing else to do.

Maybe I'm more critically, because I have played the first FEAR, but even if I try to ignore this fact FEAR 2 become a generic FPS with some promising horror elements and quite good visuals and audio, but overall not that memorable. It's a shame that the series took this direction after the first game.

If you are really interested to play the FEAR series, then you can give it a try, but otherwise you should skip this one. I don't recommend getting this game.
