It's quite a smart game. Gonna have to play it again to complete the experience I think.

Go in blind if it looks like something you'd enjoy.

Pretty fun and creative, and great art. Those spiders are rather irritating and the jumping is a bit floaty though. I think it's worth keeping an eye on the upcoming full release.

Nier Automata ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loves wasting your time. If I do manage to get through the whole story at some point and find that it was worth it then I will update the review. The first playthrough offers almost nothing worthwhile in terms of story and the second has you doing almost the exact same thing again. WTF? I know there is a deeper story here but they keep it tucked away for some reason.

Pros:
+ Nice atmosphere

Cons:
- Lots of backtracking
- Super limited inventory causing even more backtracking
- So many slow opening doors
- Limited saves
- No story worth talking about
- At one point a door knob breaks for seemingly no other reason than so you can do even more backtracking

I don't hate the game but it does everything it can to wear out your patience so I can't recommend it. Hopefully it gets remade again RE2 style.

I DON'T like the caves. They are bland and confusing. But this is a still a uniquely mysterious and atmospheric game. I think they can really knock it out of the park with the sequel.

Even though it's not complete and might be abandoned, I would still recommend the game if it looks like something you would enjoy. It's perfectly playable and fun and quite ambitious.

Oh, I haven't reviewed this yet? Well, it's the best gameplay-focused game I've ever played.
