I'll be honest, everything here except the online functionality feels like a downgrade from Skate 3. I can see why they avoided naming the game Skate 4. It's not Skate 4, it's Skate Online.

Compared to Skate 3, the graphics are worse (pretty unacceptable considering Skate 3 is FIFTEEN YEARS OLD), the maps and world are worse, the character models look like uncanny sims, the soundtrack is worse, many tricks from Skate 3 are outright missing for some reason, and the game is just missing the crisp vibe that Skate 3 had. The game also has a lot of bugs (and not just the good ones that make Skate better). Trick assist feels too forgiving a lot of the time. Hall of meat: gone. Skitching: gone. It's definitely not a high-effort production. Playing the game kind of just makes me want to boot up Skate 3 again instead sometimes.

That being said, it's hard to hate the price, I'm glad Skate is back, and the game is still a good time. I hope it does well enough to convince EA that Skate 4 is a worthwhile project.

Still one of the greatest precision platformers to exist 18 years later. Extremely hard soundtrack.

I was on such cope because I loved HAWKEN. This is so sad.
