It's a cool experience, really atmospheric, but 10 dollars is pretty steep for a game that's shorter than the steam refund window. I'd recommend waiting for a sale

If you have anything important going on in your life, do not play this game. This thing always finds a way to stop me from turning it off

Jankiest buggiest game in the series with the largest amount of F-you sections, and anyone telling you otherwise is a liar. You should still play it anyway though

This game is not DOOM Eternal 2, so don't go into it expecting that. Once again they've completely changed up the combat loop for this DOOM game and it is very fun. The Dark Ages is a much more grounded, heavy hitting approach compared to Eternal's fast and chaotic gameplay. There is no quick switching, no flying around in the air, and your only equipment is your shield and melee. In some ways this game is similar to the 2016 release: you have a lot more freedom in how you play (a criticism some people had about Eternal was being "forced" to play a certain way). You can once again just pick out one gun and stick to it, you rarely will run out of ammo. Enemy designs have also stepped away from Eternal's cartoonish style and more towards 2016's darker themes, except with a more medieval twist of course, and some demons are completely reimagined versions of old classics.

unfortunately in my opinion the soundtrack is pretty forgettable. It's good music and fits with the gameplay, but it is nothing like the amazing work Mick Gordon did with the last two games (or even Andrew Hulshult's work with Eternal's DLC, for that matter).

Really fun and if you like DOOM at all, you should enjoy this game. The giant mech sections were kind of mid though.

Not your usual Final Fantasy game, where 15 and the remakes shifted to action games that still kept in RPG elements and hints of "turn based" combat, this game went all the way and is a straight up character action game. There is no true party system, Clive is the only character you need to worry about and have any agency over (asides from Torgal). The RPG elements that are present are either very minimal or a novelty.

Me personally I love character action, DMC is one of my favorite games and the guy who made that did the combat for this apparently. But if you are looking for a traditional Final Fantasy, this ain't it.

The best part of the game for me has to be how realistic the protagonist is this time around, Clive is a 33 year old grown man that gets straight to business and has a crazy good voice actor behind him. Story was actually very enthralling, pretty easy to follow, and full of amazing moments.

The best thing this game does though is let you fast travel to the quest giver anytime you finish a side quest, and the load time is instantaneous no matter where you are. Every RPG from now on needs to have this feature.

It's aight but I mean I feel like compared to Wounds of Eventide, which was a free expansion, this is lackluster. One of the new bosses just feels like a rehashed charred visage, the other one feels like a worse version of Crisanta. Compared to the bosses added in Eventide, kind of disappointing. And the new ending has zero changes on the final boss, it is just a new cutscene at the end. Again, something Eventide did better, so disappointing.

I do recommend it but definitely not for full price

Definitely better than the original, a lot more fleshed out with tighter controls, better boss fights, and more interesting combat. Going back to Blasphemous 1, the only things I look forward too are the simplicity of the Mea Culpa (which the DLC brings back anyway) and the prayers. If you liked the first, you will love the second
