Enjoyed it quite a bit. Good atmosphere, good story, good combat. Big fan of the rolling and being able to kick tables and dumpsters into enemies.

The style and presentation in this game are top notch. The gameplay is a bit scattered. I think the movement is fun once you fully unlock it, but a lot of the weapons feel too slow because it's either low fire rate or high reload time, or they don't do enough damage. I ended up using the initial Magic Wand weapon the most because of that.

It does the Titanfall 2 approach to gimmicks, where it introduces something for one or two stages to keep things fresh, and I liked all of the mechanics except for the shooting to the beat one. I recommend it, but just know it's not a super polished experience and it's more style over gameplay, which is fine, because if you're familiar with shooters, it still plays well enough to enjoy it!

It's a bit rough around the edges, but it has a lot of heart and interesting ideas. Feels more OG Alone in the Dark than Resident Evil, but still has its own thing going.

It's quite short, but oozes with style and and it's a fun case.

Excellent game. Very stressful even on lower difficulties.

Overall enjoyed it. There's some weirdness with the damage and aiming at times, but it's basically a mix of classic PS1 RE and Silent Hill. The general vibe is the more campy aspects of the original Resident Evil, with some House of the Dead thrown in.

Imagine you like hamburgers and ice-cream, and one day you're in the mood for hamburgers and you order hamburgers, and the waiter delivers delicious ice-cream. Would you be upset?

Ninja Gaiden 4 is essentially Metal Gear Rising 2. It's not a NG game, it's a Platinum character action game. Don't be fooled by Ryu Hayabusa being present in the promo material and some screenshots, the playtime with him is roughly 25% of the game. And when you do play him, he's basically a slower Yakumo with most things already unlocked. Although once you beat the game, you can play him in any level with chapter select.

While I had a lot of fun with this game, it's very high speed, it's very combo and parry-focused and it's a lot about "If enemy glows with this icon you do this move to mess them up." I like all of those things, but as someone who has played all the 3D Ninja Gaiden games (NG Black, NG Sigma, NG2, NG2 Sigma, NG2 Black, NG3 RE), it's a completely different pacing and philosophy. In the previous NG games, it feels more like a world tour, you get ambushed in tunnels, jungles, on bridges, in various areas that feel like actual places that are adapted to be combat arenas. In NG4, all combat feels like it's in similar boxes with a different backdrop. Enemies are everywhere but they don't feel as intimidating as they do in NG1-3. You know how if you dismember an enemy in a NG game and don't finish them off right away, they explode on you? NG4 also has exactly that but I've had it happen only once to me in the entire playthrough. I booted up NG2 Black and it happened within 5 minutes.

Anyway, the game is fun, I like it, if you want a character action game, you'll probably like it. It's a good challenge. But it does NOT feel like what I was expecting. I thought we were getting 50% Platinum gameplay for new players and 50% NG gameplay with Ryu for the old players. The Ryu stuff is really underwhelming. It feels like they just had to downscope his segments drastically. I wonder if the recent wave of Microsoft funding being pulled from studios basically forced the team to do this?

It's a real shame, but at least we got NG2 Black on PC.

Excellent beat-em-up. A bit on the harder side, but if you aren't the type to get too salty at difficult games, it feels fantastic to play.

The best entry in the Toree series. I love Toree. The coolest bird in gaming.
