I have been enjoying the genre clash of third person open world and settlement building.

This game is not in beta anymore. So it should be feature complete as a release product.
I have issues with the design of a couple of elements in this game, but firstly, with how the extraction mechanic was designed. When you go onto a map for the first time, you have no idea how or where to extract and worst of all, you cannot even extract where you came into the map. There is no in game map, no in world indication of what an extraction is or not is. This design was fine for the beta, but in a complete product, I cannot agree with its implementation. Something cannot be hard only for hardcore's sake, never mind that it doesn't make real world sense. If they really wanted the player to explore the map and find the extracts, that would be fine, if they at least had one guaranteed extract (the way they came into the map would be the logical choice). But now, the player is left feeling cheated, running around the map for the last minute of the raid, praying that by some magical way they will run into an extRaction place.

I know you can go online to find a map that shows you where the extractions are, but that seems idiotic to me, why is it not in the game?!

Also currently the game is a buggy mess. Hopefully the devs fixes it in time.

Another annoyance I want to add, is that the game uses a separate client. So when you click 'Play' in steam a new application opens up, where you have to click 'Play' again. Now, while that other client is open (even though you are not in the game) steam sees that running client as you playing the game. So the steam play time is extremely bloated due to this, because you click 'Exit' when in the game, then get up and leave, but the game only exited back to its own client app. Steam thinks you are still playing at this point. I know steam does a running process lookup to see if the executable it launched is still running, to determine if you are playing a game, but I wish they could distinguish between a client application and the actual game running.

A return to form. Fun, addictive and dare I say... Funny on occasion. Much improved over Borderlands 3.

In the end Battlefield 2042 is probably the worst battlefield game I have ever played. The operators and their individual gadgets, etc. did not gel with me. Gun play was enjoyable enough. I am trying to finish the 'Road to Battlefield 6' free pass and its such a chore to have to come back every week to do the missions, especially since there are barely any people playing it in my country.
