The official translation is finally here, for a hardcore date a live fan like me, this is definitely worth the wait! For the people that wants good value for their money, I would suggest getting Rio Reincarnation instead since it shares a similar price tag as Ren Dystopia, but its three in one. If the first three visual novels highly interests you, then this one is definitely is worth getting! Just a little fair warning though, you will be greeted with a rather "special" scene once you start the game ;)

Despite the game suggesting its better to play on the controller, the controls for PC is perfectly fine. If you played Rio Reincarnation, the controls are identical to the ones used for Ren Dystopia.


Theres plenty things to say about the story, but avoid writing this part so people won't get spoiled. So instead, lets continue with this familiar looking chart below.

After ten tries of trying to play this game, I simply gave up trying. Was really hoping forward to play this game but the crashes just ruins it. Really is a shame considering I am a big fan of the franchise. Refunding until the developers fixes this issue.

Uni should have appeared in this game too since this game does involve lots of guns

When I saw the gameplay trailer, it really looks like it was something made by minusT. Like honestly, look at the background and danmakus. That looks like minusT quality right there. If you are a Touhou fan but does not know who minusT is then you should be ashamed of yourself.

Anyways, lets get to the review.

Upon starting the game, I hear a calm piece of The Gensokyo the Gods Left which instantly gave me nostalgia. At the start,
you will be greeted to a menu that allows you to adjust the settings and changing the language to ensure better gameplay performance.

You will need a good pc to play this game since upon starting the tutorial, I am greeted with low fps instantly even when the settings are set for slow computers. The controls in this game for computer is very confusing such as the arrow keys used to rotate yourself, or the Y button to dodge, etc. Also the fact there is no attack key makes this game very complicated and almost makes the game unplayable for computer players. I can't even get pass the tutorial.

This part of the review is based on a livestream I watched. A nice shoutout to Repudiator for his commentary gameplay :)

You have an option to pick between the two protagonists of the Touhou franchise: Reimu Hakurei, and Marisa Kirisame. As always, Reimu is the balanced character, and Marisa is a speedy type.

There is a weapon and equipment shop you can go there to craft from the materials you obtained from beating a stage. You can sell your unwanted materials to Rinnosuke for cash in order to upgrade.

Upon finishing a stage, you will recieve materials to use in the shops along with xp for the character you are playing as to level up. The higher the difficulty, the better the rewards.

Combat:

You have a melee attack that can performed close to your target which is slightly stronger than your danmaku.

You have spell cards you can use in case the combat gets too intense, but don't rely on it too much.

There are stages that have objects such as trees that you can use to act as a barrier to defend yourself from attacks such as lasers from the bat boss.

Chapters are also a bit too short and half of chapter 1 is basically a tutorial. Not to mention you have to grind materials to unlock extra stages to play.

When I watched the trailer, I was really hyped about the game but then become disappointed since this game is only playable on the controller. However, some people complain on some controllers not working at all such as the x box one controller.

Overall, I only recommend this game if you own a controller. Otherwise if you want to play this game on PC, don't. But on the bright note the game design are quite nice for a first game attempt making especially for console.

So... this is basically a Touhou spinoff of one of the old classic Mario Kart game called: Mario Kart Double Dash.

How this game works is what you do like all Mario Kart games.
Instead of item blocks however, there is a meter that needs to be charged up by going through rings in order for spellcards to be used. Those rings will also give your team a speed boost.

There are many types of different characters you can play as and pair up with. Each of them possesses their own unique abilities. For example, Sanae and Remilia's final word practically functions as a blue shell of some sort. You can change between the characters too also giving you a slight personal speed boost and to use the current spell card/final word. You will unlock other characters later on during the campaign.

The game is pretty difficult at the start at first since the controls are a bit confusing, you will get used to the controls later on.
Some of the stages has shortcuts that are not displayed on the minimap in order to gain some advantage just like you see in any other Mario Kart games.

Soundtracks are beautiful just like any other Touhou fanmade games. (Practically remixes)

The only complain I have is the fact the campaign is a bit short and the controls are a bit hard to use. Also the accelerating is so different compared to the Mario Kart games I played.

Finally, you can play this game with your friends or any random strangers who happens to own this game too on any type of platforms such as the Nintendo Switch. But don't expect to find players too much since this IS a fanmade game after all. The high price too.

I would recommend this game to anyone that are a huge fan of either the Mario Kart and Touhou series... or both.

Uh... Misty Lake is the Touhou varient of Rainbow Road?

Howdy!

First off, Happy ⑨ Cirno Day!

So... when I first heard of the game coming out, I was quite excited to see it coming on steam. Ironically, the game itself on steam is coming on Cirno day. First things first, to those who owned the game already if you want to, buy the game itself from the steam store to support ZEN's work.

So the game starts off with three playable characters: Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame, and Youmu Konpaku. In this game, there are power ups called "animal spirits." Each of them have unique uses.

Wolf = Focused Shots
Otter = Powered up bombs
Eagle = Power of Unfocused shots

Collecting five spirits known as "spirit items" will result in a mode similar to PCB's supernatural boarder mode. Collecting three or more of the same animal spirits will result in an improved longer version of the ability of the current animal spirit. The mode will have a time limit and will end when the time ends, or getting hit which serves as a "shield."

The music is ZUN quality as always. Personally, the best theme of WBaWC goes to Idolatrize World. I also love how in the final boss against Keiki, the background changes quite often during the battle. Probably the best theme in 2019 for me.

Storywise, Keiki basically did nothing wrong. She is like a better Yukari.

The only bug I have ecountered in the game is the game itself not opening once I made my laptop go to sleep mode. If I tried to open it, the windows won't appear but the application says the game is running. Overall, another Touhou masterpiece created. Uh... Yee Haw?

Basically Touhou version of Dungeon Defenders, except you play as majority your favourite characters as you progressed through the story. Each character possesses unique uses and abilities. For example: Aya is mostly used for levels that has lots of water, Okuu for crowd control, etc. However, some characters also have cons applied to them. For example Okuu's attack is strong, but in exchange it will damage your traps forcing you to take big risks. Another example is Mokou's, Mokou can buff her attacks and heal herself, but in exchange for either her own health, or your bases health therefore forcing you to only use her skills for emergencies only. Voice acting is great with translations. Music is beautiful as always like any other Touhou games, fan made or not. If you are the type of person that likes both Touhou and tower defense games, then this game is for you.
