When this game came out it ran like crap, was missing a lot of stuff, and it was buggy AF. Now it still doesn't run perfectly (but at least it has lots of eye candy to make up for it), it's no longer missing a lot of stuff (they reworked a myriad things, from quests to police systems, to how the character building process works, etc.) and it's way less buggy.

Still not exactly the game I was hyped for back then, but it is what it is, at least it's a pretty great title now.

It's buggy and the voice acting could use a bit more work, but above all, it's very fun to play and it does enough things well. The Romeros have crafted a mix of RPG, strategy and business management that might not go down in history as the best game ever, but will definitely entertain anyone looking for a 1920s gangster title.

Yakuza is turn-based now. You have a party, jobs to level up, and a bunch of JRPG stuff. Is that a bad thing? I don't think so, because it's fun as heck, and it feels like a breath of fresh air.
Is it still Yakuza if it doesn't have real-time combat? Oh yes, it's very much Yakuza, as anyone who's played the first 3 hours can tell you.

Is it truly a great spot to start the series? Yes and no. On the one hand, it's a new storyline (though it has references to stuff that happened in previous games, or characters from previous games) and it has a new combat system. On the other hand, it's still very much Yakuza, and if you didn't like Yakuza before, you probably won't like this game now. The first three hours will probably either draw you in completely or make you hate it.

I'm only 10 hours in, so of course I haven't seen most of the new stuff, but so far I've enjoyed this game a lot, and would recommend it to anyone who liked the previous games in the series, even if they think that the new combat system won't be something they'll enjoy. Spoiler alert: I think that even the staunchest real-time combat Yakuza fan will end up loving this one.

A wehraboo's wet dream. Tigers and Panthers fighting during the Fall of France (and being invincible killing machines that never break down), and awful performance that would make said big cats proud with how often the game manages to burn itself to death.

"What would you do if you had all the upgrades?"

"I'll tell you what I'd do man...two Marauders at the same time man"

"That's it? If you had all the upgrades, you'd do two Marauders at the same time?"

"Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I had everything unlocked I could hook that up, cause Marauders dig a Slayer with all the upgrades."

Jokes aside, this DLC is pretty much perfect. It's the right kind of difficulty for a fully upgraded Slayer, and it advances the story if you care about that. BUY IT!

I haven't beaten the campaign yet, but what I've played of it so far is pretty good and you get enough chances to shoot down opposing fighters, while at the same time doing other objectives to keep things interesting. It's a story of two sides (you play as both an Imperial pilot and a New Republic/Rebellion pilot) and while it seems like it's gonna be a collection of clichés, that's pretty much what Star Wars has been for a while now, so I don't feel like that's a bad thing.
The flying itself is really fun, and it takes a lot of cues from the classics. I played two missions in VR and didn't experience performance issues, though the cutscenes are in "theater" mode, which kinda sucks (a friend told me not all of them are like this, which is even weirder).
My Logitech Extreme 3D Pro was detected with no need for a setup process, though I'm going to have to remap some inputs because it doesn't feel entirely right for me at the moment. Both gamepads (like the x360 one) and mouse/keyboard are also supported. VR controllers aren't, but honestly, I don't think that'd be a good idea, based on the way the flight systems work.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with Squadrons, and I hope it'll get more support down the line (extra campaigns would be perfect).

2020 will probably stay in the memory of first person shooter fans as the Doom Eternal year, but I'd contend that Serious Sam 4 also deserves some love, if anything, because of how committed to fun it is. Sam Stone's latest outing (though canon-wise it's his first) is Croteam firing in all cilinders, with some pretty excellent shooting backed up by Damjan Mravunac's masterful work with the soundtrack.

It's obvious that the developers have taken into account the criticism for Serious Sam 3's boring setting and weird attempts at being a modern military shooter, because this game will take you to varied locales, while at the same time laughing in the face of MMS mechanics (though for some reason they kept ADS on the pistol and the assault rifle).
I'd say that my only complaints would be that performance isn't as good as it could be (though Croteam is working on patches, and have already released a hotfix that improved things on my end) and that the Legion System is only used in two specific parts of the game (though it's as impressive as expected).

Otherwise, I'm more than happy with Serious Sam 4. It's rough around the edges, but packed to the brim with action, fun and surprisingly sweet moments. Once again, Gearbox Software could learn a thing or two about how to handle Duke from Croteam's writers.

It's Quake+Devil May Cry, but you are a robot who needs blood to keep going. Also, Hell is full and Humanity is dead.
Not sold yet? You have a shotgun with infinite ammo.
Still not sold? You can parry your own shotgun projectiles to make them better.

Still not sold??? What if I told you that it looks gorgeous but you won't need an RTX 3000 series card to run it at max settings?
OK, here's the ultimate way to sell you on the game: you can play in arenas that are 100% Big John.

I understand that people expected better performance since Death Stranding ran better and had DLSS 2.0, but honestly, I wouldn't say it's such a bad port. On a Ryzen 5 3600, 32gb and a 2060 Super, I get a locked 60fps at 1080p, which is enough for me. Running everything on max except for clouds and shadows, which I lowered to High.

There's an issue with anisotropic filtering that can be solved through the Nvidia Control Panel for some, otherwise I'd wait for a patch for that specific problem. The game is still perfectly playable for me, hence the positive review.

Sadly, this seems to be an attempt at a retro shooter made by people who watched gameplay videos of the classics, but didn't play them (or played them and somehow got the wrong idea?)

The two main weapons I've used so far feel way too underpowered (shotgun has trouble dealing with Imps, for instance) and the enemies all look too similar. This is also an issue with the rest of the game's overall look as well, since it seems like they went with a Hell theme that's basically "hey, Hell is red-ish"
Level design is also a snoozefest so far, while we are at it.

The music is serviceable, and the voice actor is clearly doing his best, but I can't help but feel dumb when he proclaims his love for the Church of the Triple Barreled Shotgun, while at the same time never having enough ammo to fire it, and when he does, it's a water pistol.

So far, the game is a complete disappointment, with the only thing I like being the movement speed. I hope it improves, but I'm not so sure about the chances of that happening.
I think I'm either going to replay the original Doom, or maybe DUSK or Amid Evil, those two are genuine throwback shooters that don't just try to copy the visuals, but actually improve upon the gameplay of the classics.
