Again, this is another situation where'd I'd like some sort of better choice then yes or no for recommendation.

In short, this is the kind of game to pick up at a steam sale in my opinion.

While there were enjoyable elements in particular with platforming, when it comes down to it, combat drags this game down and frankly the game just didn't keep my interest. New mechanics went away very easily and I never got into the groove of the game.

Not to say the game is bad, it's visually appealing, and when the Ikaruga like elements work, they work well.

It's just the type of game I see that could easily get your interest, or frankly could fall off the face of the earth. I my self can't recommend it, although I can understand why people would like it.

This is the kind of game that I wish that I'd have a Neutral Selection here. Like, not a yes, or no.

I had fun with Gauntlet, don't get me wrong, but if you're buying it, I don't think it holds up. There's a lack of customization options for the user, especially if you're someone who doesn't have 3 friends to play with right away with the game. The lack of customization of games to find to play, lack of customization of controls, and lack of options in general, and the game feels like a game that was made for the developers to play, not for the masses to play.

The developer is apparently working on those features in question, and I highlight the lack of them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn3Zt704AWA . This willl turn to a recommendation if it's done in a timely matter. But otherwise, I can't recommend it.

It's a downright shame this doesn't have more publicity then it does, because this game is downright fantastic. Wonderful design decisions all around, from the very clever use of the open world puzzle platforming combined with a resource management mechanic (if you want to look at it like that) to make the player think on their feet when facing their challenges. Combine that with a nerdy sense of humor combined with well done voice acting, and you have a game that you should pick up.

Creativity is awarded for players in MagicMaker. Let the combinations run wild, and be innovative on how you play the game. The game has flaws, there is performance issues from time to time, and I did crash a couple of times. There's a spike in difficulty in the game, but they don't outweigh the positive of the games. If you being a scientist, and experimenting with combinations and be a tactician in changing your playstyle: this game is for you.

This game just tries to appeal to too many people. It borrow mechanics from Black Ops Zombies, Gears of War, heck, a little bit of Orcs Must Die even. But the problem is: it does none of those elements well. It's a bland shooter that's easily outdone by other games in the market, and isn't impressive what so ever. In short, there's not enough to commit me at least to want to even continue playing. The rent a weapon system feels like a cash grab, and while I like helping developers and have little problems paying for content: there's not much bang for buck here. There are other games that just do it better, and free ones at that. It's not worth your time.

It's a great time. The progression system is appreciated, and the powerups are varied enough that it's always exciting to get a new weapon, as it effects your playstyle. Give this a try.
