Would've liked to play this game but I'm getting a lot of stuttering in-game and naturally I looked up online to see what could've caused the issue to happen. Then I read about how disabling Origin overlay could fix the stuttering issues in-game.

That's all reasonable because of past experiences of client overlays not making games function properly, but the next thing that I found out was that for Titanfall 2 you can't even disable Origin overlay because the Origin client Steam is launching the game from is ThinClient apparently which restricts games from Steam from disabling the Origin overlay altogether. Why can I disable Steam overlay then? That didn't even help me here at all.

I'm pointing fingers here at both Origin and Steam now for this mess altogether, the game looked neat and all but this situation now only leads me to just refund it for the time being.

Can't go wrong with an oldschool FPS with a survival theme. I also have to mention how I love how you can play this for couple of minutes or for several hours, depending on your preference to play the game if you like to grind out the best time possible or just play it to spend some time.

I'm only recommending this if you have played L4D2 already, if you haven't played/bought that, please buy L4D2 rather than L4D1 since they cost the same amount anyway.

Anyway, ever since when the campaigns from L4D1 got ported to L4D2, this game got more and more less played. For a reason, it's more enjoyable though to play a single game as a party with campaigns from two games, rather than always switch between 2 games if you want to play different campaigns.
Campaigns itself and the whole scenario in L4D1 are better though, probably they aren't really that much different from what they are in L4D2 though to some people, so in case if you don't already see any difference between them yourself, you should just stick to the sequel.
The versus game on this one has more idea than in L4D2, since on L4D2 you just run to the safe room and that's it, with this you all have to maintain your health as good too rather than crawl to the safe room as a group.
Still, with that there's the one problem you would notice if you have played both games, there's half of the special infected that you can use in versus since there are more added zombies in the sequel. It's kind of like a preference if you don't like Chargers, Jockeys or Spitters, but I would find 2 Hunters, Smokers or Boomers a bit unfair altogether.

There are some things that you might miss from L4D2, like special weapons or throwables, or even some of the gamemodes. Making mostly only the Campaigns the core of this game, which it mostly is though of course. I don't think you would be able to get more than 4 people to get to play this in these days anyway now.

This is still a great game though, but I don't see any reason to spend money on this for the story, since as said, all the same campaigns are already in L4D2. There's even more story between The Sacrifice and The Passing than almost at any other part of the game and those both campaigns were added to L4D2 in the first place too.

Only thing that this has what L4D2 doesn't, is a one survival map. So if you're dying to get that, feel free to spend 20€ to get that rather than to search a custom map file for it somewhere for L4D2.
