Read Taleweavers Alliance. It's short, about 30 minutes in total.
The 4th story, Truth of the self, is 5 minutes long and it's about a girl realizing she's "different" after meeting another girl on the street. It's kinda symbolic, but the metaphor is obvious.
Also the 2nd story, Eagle and the Star Maze, is a (even shorter) creation myth which briefly shows a picture of two female looking figures holding hands when it talks about love.

I guess it's not for everyone, but it's up to you how to handle laws and how you treat the girls. The dev gives you the option of going for the harmony route or to be as geedy and evil as you want to be to achieve your goals. Treat monstergirls as citizens or as resources, it's up to you.

Never played the series myself but this is the port of a PS1 game that was pretty famous/infamous back then for having a lesbian relationship between the two female leads.
Afaik it was pretty male gaze-y (not surprising since it's a 2001 game) but the 2018 sequel, which is already on the list, should be much better in that regard.

Witch and Lilies is currently in Early Access and those don't get put on the list. Once it does, at least based on the store description, it probably will be added.

There are multiple optional F/F romantic outcomes, though it takes a long time to get there. Maxing out the first relationship meters took about 50 (long micromanaged) in game days of frequently pairing up tasks.

Yeah I have definitely seen games tagged female protagonist when they just mean the main onscreen character - at least that makes slightly more sense than some of the tag nonsense I run into. A *lot* of times the tags are applied by developers who don't pay attention or don't care about whether they're accurate, or are just plain spamming.

I checked the simplified Chinese store description, and it clearly states "male protagonist," so it's definitely a problem with the confusing labeling. It's a shame; I was hoping for a yuri game...

Maybe the understand of what a "protagonist" is differs in these Asian languages? Maybe they consider it to mean something like "main role", which can technically apply to the love interests too. Or maybe these community based tags just suck lol

@DamnMeAgain I've been noticing the same for a while about many Chinese het harem FMV games released in the past year. I was starting to think that maybe the tag in Chinese has a different or ambiguous meaning, but the one you posted is Japanese so who knows?
I always report the tag but it will probably take a lot of people doing it to force them to remove it.

Not curator relevant yet but Witchs Bakery has a demo out for those interested. Its an upcoming game where the main character enters a romance with another woman over the course of running her shop. As far as I know, there is just the one romance so it's canon yuri.

Sometimes, very rarely, but sometimes the token yuri route is good and even then I would advise waiting for a sale just cause like, I know I'm only going to play like 1/6 of the game.

Indeed, even if the dev is bisexual or tries to appeal to bisexuals, you would expect the romance options to be better balanced then. I have seen a few VNs that have several male and female romance options in recent years, which feel much more sensible to me for that purpose.
Token lesbian routes in old otome games feel like a relict and at best a curiosity. I would not recommend them to a yuri fandom, unless they are literally free. And even then you often have to get through an insufferable common route where guys constantly hit on or have romantic tension with the MC. No thanks.

The first (and hopefully) last time I gave in and bought a VN with a token lesbian route was with this game, because I was very interested in the setting and loved the lesbian character's design.

I really liked the route, but of course I couldn't help but feeling rip-offed by the fact that I paid for only a part of the full game.

But then the developer released a fandisk, mainly made by short stories voted by their Patreon subscribers. And since of course nobody of them cared for the lesbian, the fandisk had the bare minimum of her, while the guys had many more scenes, with also threesomes and yaoi stories between them.
So while in the original game the lesbian was a token, her presence in the fandisk was the token of a token...

Nowadays if VNs don't have *at least* 50% of romanceable women I automatically ignore them.

Depending on historical context for particular games, it tends to be any combination of testing the waters (especially back when a full yuri game seemed impossible), the dev is bi and wanted the option available, some of the fanbase is bi and asked for the option, they had a female friend character written and things just HAPPENED, and hoping it would appeal to a wider audience.

Wanting a Steam LGBT tag alone is not really something anyone would go for in my experience, people simply don't follow the tag in a way that it would be meaningful or provide any boost (*I* do but I know how to isolate it from the Popular Stuff that steam would prefer to show me.)

It always confuses me how there is one token f/f route in so many otome games. Like... who is this for? Yuri fans arent going to buy a het romance VN for one route. And I think the majority of yumjoshi players dont care about yuri either. I guess some would find it interesting or at least play the route for completion but still.
I guess it is more common for girls to be open to different kinds of romances. I know plenty of people who would got for the best friend route in het dating sims with male protags too. Though those are usually treated as joke endings.

Going through the list and I think Elden Ring being listed as a game with yuri should be re-evaluated or at least updated to be more accurate.

The curator note says you can romance multiple female characters, but there is really only one character (Ranni) where I think the relationship could be interpretted as romance, and even then it's a stretch to call it romance as it seems purely transactional akin to a political marriage.

Played The Empathy Algorithm. There's no explicit romance, mainly because the game is 1 hour long, you can see some romantic aspects to the story, but it would be a spoiler for the ending.

The most explicit part is when the other girl asks the protagonist if she has ever been truly in love: if you choose "Well, there was this girl..." she will tell about a past relationship with a girl, if you choose "Well, there was this boy..." the other girl immediately stops her to say "A guy? That's disappointing" in a flirty way (and you get the "Make Ji-Jeon flirt with you" achievement).
