Final Fantasy V is a genuinely great JRPG that doesn't get nearly enough love — the job system alone makes it worth playing, letting you mix and match abilities across classes in ways that keep combat fresh and strategic all the way through. The story is simple and charming rather than epic, but characters like Gilgamesh and the main cast have real personality, and the soundtrack (especially Battle on the Big Bridge) is legitimately some of the best in the series. That said, this Steam port is a disappointing way to experience the game: it's clearly a rushed mobile port with visible tile seams everywhere, a UI clearly designed for a phone screen, and jarring visual inconsistency between character sprites, backgrounds, and the Amano portrait art. If you've never played FFV before and this is your only option, the core game is still absolutely worth your time — but if you have access to the GBA version, play that instead.
