Awful port, awful game. The Fabulla Nova Chrystallis sub-series for FF is one of the most convoluted, lore heavy and poorly written mythos in FF. It's all flare in an era where SE tried to capture "Advent Children" as a game without understanding it's own lore.

FF13, FF15 and Type 0 all have the same issues of poor world-building and just either unfinished mechanics or bad combat design.

Refunded after a few hours. Just a bad game.

Easily one of Square's biggest missed opportunities was bringing Final Fantasy Type-0 to the West on the PSP. Such a shame because they had that handheld on lockdown between the various remakes of Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, and Valkyrie Profile they also had, Crisis Core, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. Seriously, how do you skip out on bringing the first M-rated Final Fantasy to a region that would eat this up? (yeah yeah, capitalism not making a big enough profit to localize it yada yada yada)

Either way we were fortunate enough to an HDR of the would-be missing link in the Fabula Nova Crystalis series and if you're someone that experienced PSP games and enjoyed them, FFT0 should check all the boxes for you:

The easiest pitch for the game: You're a high school class of Super Soldiers fighting to end a Fantasy World War II, with each Cadet representing one of the Final Fantasy Jobs. This game feels like it bridges the gap between old heads generally think of when it comes to Final Fantasy and what modern Final Fantasy games are.

Additionally, similar to how the story and themes of Final Fantasy Tactics are just as relevant today as they were 30 years ago when it released, the themes within FFT0 hit just as hard. With the world under constant threat of insecure capitalist pedos trying their best to be Cid Aulstyne and project power via Military Fascism, we must remember it's on us to educate the youth and equip them properly for life so we can break this cycle of exploitation that dominates our society.

Also, this is the last FF to feature the traditional Overworld Map as well, so if that PS1 era RPG is something you're longing to experience again; Play Final Fantasy Type-0!!!
