I hated on the Demo because that was literally the best example of how NOT to make a demo for a game. However the full game left me pleasantly surprised. Despite what other reviews and even critics say, the remake of the first Alone in the Dark is actually a GOOD GAME.
Some people call it bad and to be honest I can understand where they are coming from. The game does some things right but also does some things wrong. It's really nothing memorable. Despite being a part of the franchise that literally started the survival horror genre, unfortunately, this game is not that special. It's not as memorable as the remakes of Resident Evil and lately Silent Hill.
Still, if you are a fan of the Resident Evil Remakes, finished them all and want more similar experiences, this game really scratches that itch.
Gunplay is really fun and shooting enemies is satisfying, the melee system is clunky but you get used to it quickly. The story was... alright ? Characters are good and the two protagonists are played by really great actors.
The gameplay is overall very similar to Silent Hill 2 Remake, so again, if you want more of that, this game really scratches that itch.
Overall it's a good game, not great but good. Worth buying on a sale, not on full price. Still, give it a go.
A shame the rest of the games will not be remade as the studio was shut down when sales didn't meet the expectations.

There weren't many boss fights, and the few that did exist weren't interesting.
