This manual page documents the
.BR sccw 
program.
This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution
because the original program does not have a manual page.

.B Sccw
is a Morse practice program. It can be run from a virtual console
or an xterm. In order to run 
.BR sccw
you must have root access.
.PP
After 
.BR sccw
is started a numbered menu is shown. You can:

\fB1)\fP Change the \fIspeed\fP, default 10 wpm, choices between 3 and 50 wpm
(wpm = words per minute).

\fB2)\fP Change the \fIfrequency\fP of the tone, default 700 Hz, choices
between 100 and 6000 Hz.

\fB3)\fP Change the \fIvolume\fP, default 32, choice between 0 and 64.

\fB4)\fP Change the \fIdelay\fP between characters, default 3.
.PP
\fB5)\fP Change the \fIcharacter set\fP for random groups. Set 1 contains letters
A-Z, set 2 contains A-Z and digits 0-9 and in set 3 the question
mark and the slant is added. Set 1 is the default.

\fB6)\fP Change the \fInumber of 5 letter groups\fP transmitted, default 5.

\fB7)\fP This starts the \fItransmission of random groups\fP.

\fB8)\fP This starts the \fItransmission of a file\fP after a filename is
entered.

\fB9)\fP This \fIquits\fP the program.

After the transmission of characters or a file the characters are
echoed to the screen so the user can compare his results with the
actual transmission.


When the user quits from the program, the current settings are saved
in the configuration file \fI.sccw\fP in the users home directory. These 
values will be automagically loaded the next time the program is run.
.SH BUGS
There is no error checking on user input. If the program asks for 
a number between 0 and 10, and you enter 35, "funny things" 
might happen.
