I upgraded from Ubuntu Lucid to Maverick and the installer got confused which partition to boot from because there were 2 that were bootable. I ended up getting an unfriendly grub error on startup.
I found out about this application and the LiveCD packaging from ubuntuforums, downloaded, burnt and gave it a whirl.
I just like to say, it worked perfectly and thanks very much yannubuntu for your hard work in making this very useful app!
Saved the day,
with thanks,

@all: Thanks for your comments. Boot-Repair can always be used without internet, except in rare cases (GRUB or Linux purge). See also question 210240 on answers.launchpad. Boot-Repair-Disk is based on Debian stable, so it contains old Wi-Fi drivers. If you can't connect your Wi-Fi on Boot-Repair-Disk, please use Boot-Repair via PPA on recent Ubuntu (which contains recent Wi-Fi drivers).

Hola from Gemany and Chile, Subject: Re: [Boot-Repair] Graphical tool to repair the PC boot in 1 click! on ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=12205679&postcount=516 We figured out that Grub writes the NVRAM-Entries well if efibootmgr ist installed. Unfortunately, on the Ubuntu CD, this is not always the case

Wonderful program. For those of you complaining about internet access for a boot-disk (which is a reasonable complaint) note that internet access isn't required - just to get the latest version at run-time, and also for tech support (it publishes a log file to pastebin) and for statistics; presumably not giving away secret information about your machines... There are configuration flags to turn off the internet access, so it won't ask you about turning on your internet connection.

Cool program. Hoping for more features in the future.

Can this be used on different Service Packs of Windows XP, vista, Win7 etc? (universal boot repair?)

This program has really helped me a lot! Strongly recommended!

What an Amazing little program. I cloned a dual boot (Windows and linux) hard drive to a bigger Hybrid drive and I couldn't get it to boot. I installed boot-repair on a live CD and ran it. Then I pushed one button and Presto problem fixed. Great Job, Guys. Thanks a lot!
