Really love this project with all the additional tweaks added to the stock version. However, an area for great improvement should be AiMesh performance. I am using AC86U as my main router and 2x AC68U as nodes. At first I flashed all three with latest Merlin FW, but realized that mesh setup was extremely unstable and devices could not connect. I read elsewhere that only main router should be with Merlin FW and nodes with ASUS stock FW. After re-flashing I managed to get the mesh working, but my sons complainted about very slow throughput and speed for gaming. I measured and realized a drop in WIFI speed to less than half compared to no mesh setup. Eventually after flashing newest stock FW on all three devices, I am able to maintain the high speed on WIFI. This is very sad, as I am missing the features and stability of the Merlin version. I hope this will be improved in next version.

Gentlemen... Bravo! Very impressed with the tedious efforts made here. If I could give you 6 stars I would. Especially, the level of thought you put into the sophistication of this process. It's amazing stuff, super impressed. 3 minutes to update... nothing lost.. works like a charm... even my router VPN automatically reactivated. Thank you very much. Keep up the great work!

What a difference, at last a stabile wifi connection, thanks for making this possible on RT-AC5300

Very good firmware, based on original Asus firmware. future rich, speed and easy of use. very good support direct from developer and community on snbforums.

with RT-AC88U_386.2_beta1.zip i lost internet had to do a rollback

Hi, this review is only on bugs in last release: RT-AC68U_386.1_2. I have upgraded from 384.19. 1) it broke the "DST time zone changes" so my routers time became out which messed up "Time Scheduling" 2) the new "Time Scheduling" UI makes this great feature *useless* for me. Why do you replace something that can be adjusted in 5 seconds to something clearly over-engineered that forces you to spend 5 minutes on? I use this for children's WI-FI scheduling and need to update it often - public holidays, schooling from home etc. If you want to add value to it add support for smaller increments of time e.g. 30min (on original, brilliant UI). I needed to go back to 384.19 and going to stay on that back version until these issues are fixed.

Good job but openvpn client connection is buggy. most arent connecting after config. Please check this and add wireguard functions

Was working great for about 2 weeks. Last night however, my 2.4ghz network stopped working. 5ghz was fine. Tried resetting everything several times. Nothing! Devices were all saying the password had changed, it hadn't!!!! Last resort was to switch back to stock firmware. All working fine again now but I wonder if this is something anyone else has experienced??

Used this with my RT-AC88U, RT-AC5300, & now my RT-AX88U with zero hassles, perfectly stable with useful enhancements

Merlin, thank you for this! I didn't have an account with this platform but I've registered here just to say how fantastic your project is and how thankful am I for having it. I'm using an ASUS AC68U and you've made that better. I noticed that the CPU was well optimized that it didn't hog too much of usage after using your firmware compared to the stock one. Another great thing about this is the ease of use as it's still looking the same as the ASUS stock firmware just with some tweaks here and there. The greatest part is that it's now showing the temps of the router's 2.4, 5, and CPU. Thank you!

I have been using ASUS routers for over 10 years now. Merlin firmware always the best to use no question. If there are issues the folks in the forums for Merlin are more helpful than any other source I found anywhere else. Thank you Merlin for all the hard work and everyone else for the support over the years best community for networking hands down.

Thank you for enhancing RT-AC3200, I purchased a few months ago and with My ISP current update has caused me to only see 22-30mbps with your improvements, its working as it once was. I wish there was LAG to complement my other devices.
