I use Synkron on my Mac (Mac X 10.5.7) and on three Windows computers. An external harddrive (FAT32) is used to backup and synchronize all computers. Synkron works fine on my windows computers as well as on the Mac as long as files are synchronized from harddrive towards the Mac. When on the Mac only files have been changed, which already existing on the hardrive, the files are synchronized towards the ext. harddrive but when files only exist on the Mac, Synkron is unable to synchronize these files. It always occurs an error message saying something like 'unknown error' - I use a none english version. It seems that Synkron on the Mac is not able to create/copy files on my FAT32 formated external harddrive. I've already reinstalled the program several times, but without any change.
I am having this exact problem. I have a 500GB Western Digital Passport drive that I move between Windows, Linux, and OS X. Everything is the English version. When using Synkron to copy files from my OS X 10.6 system to the FAT32-formatted Password drive, it generates many "Unknown error" messages, followed by "restored" messages for the same file.
I wish I knew what was up or how to debug or troubleshoot this. I haven't taken a ktrace of the program, but I suppose that's a possibility.
