While the shairport is being successfully discovered and it seems that the sound should be playing okay and an iPhone 4 @ 5.0.1 shows that the song is playing, the PC won't deliver any sound at all.
I tried switching output methods and selecting my sound output device to no luck

Can you provide output of the log file? "Edit" -> "Advanced" -> "Log to file"
