I am using ScummVM 1.0.0pre043116 (Aug 8 2009 20:02:41) and the feautures compiled in are: Vorbis FLAC MP3 zLib FluidSynth.
During the cutscenes sometimes there are no voices and sometimes appears "!!NULL STRING!!" instead of the normal subtitles.
The version of the game is ENGLISH/CD/DOS (GM)
I am using Windows XP Professional with SP 2.

The first thing to check in such a situation is that you've got all the files from both CDs correctly renamed. A similar problem encountered by another user a while back was that they'd mixed up the number renaming, and accidentally named the 2nd CD's txt file as english1.txt, and the first CD's txt file as english2.txt.

I'd thus suggest making a complete fresh copy of the game from your CDs, and making doubly sure that you correctly rename the *.idx, *.txt, and *.smp files. See if that resolves the problem.
