I am using an Alpha version of Mitre's Benchmark Editor and in their tutorials it says to open your tracker via path C:\BDCTools\rt\RTClient.jar
I could not get this to open..even after updating Java. A message saying "Recommendation Tracker Could not Start"
I downloaded the newest tracker from your website (following the link on the tutorial) and I can open it, but the tutorial only gives me a test name and password and the new tracker also asks for database host and database name. I am not sure what to put in there or what to do to get tothe next step of being able to "add the new minimum password length rule to the ‘Microsoft Windows XP’ guide" as the tutorial says.
Could you please help? the goal is to populate the following fields on above guide:
Title
Recommendation
Rationale
Impact if not followed
Thank you,

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Simply unzip the latest version to th location of your choice. THen navigate tot eh <RT install directory>/docs/ directory. There you will find "install.README" This will guide you through a full installation of the RT.
At this point we do not have sample data for the RT in the official installation bundles. We plan to in the near future.
The CD you have that contains the Benchmark Development Tools in now a bit out of date. The installs on that CD were crafted specifically for the course. If you plan on attending the course on Monday i am happy to help yuo get things running there.
Let us know if you need additional help.

In the same directory that your are double clicking the RTCLient.jar file you should find a file named rtclient.log. Can you attach that log file to a response to this posting?
If you do not have a log file there you should open a command window and navigate to the directory that contains the RTClient.jar. Then at the command prompt type:
java -jar RTClient.jar
Does that get the recommendation tracker started for you? Does it produce an error message? If you have an error message there please paste it into a response to this message.
You should be able to open the readme with any text editor of your choice. I would try notepad.
