This is the / (root) directory of PHPOS/PHOENIXZ. PHOENIXZ is the (open source)
core fork of PHPOS. PHPOS is the Operating System for PHP. Please note that
througout this project, the names PHPOS and PHOENIXZ may be used interchangeably,
because of PHPOS legacy. Both names will continue to exist, since PHPOS is more
clear as to what exactly the project is, a PHP Operating System
PHOENIXZ is a project that aims to make a platform and framework which makes it
possible to develop websites under PHP as if they were "normal" programs. To a
web developer, PHPOS is what GNU/Linux is to a "conventional" developer,
an operating system. It will make your own remote computer with a desktop
that can be accessible from all over the world. The interface to work with
PHOENIXZ could be either X)HTML based, or, for example, a flash program.
PHOENIXZ takes care of all low level website / web system work, like user
authentication, cookies, sessions, etc. Also, it also makes the PHOENIXZ API
available together with a large framework of libraries that can be used to
quickly develop anything from very simple static HTML pages to highly advanced
web systems, like a web shop with complete administration system.
PHOENIXZ has been designed to be as open and abstract as possible, leaving
real implementation up to the developer. Since august 2004, the core of
PHPOS development went open source under the nickname "PHOENIXZ"
