Jonathan, You should be fine; orkaudio has a system for discarding duplicate RTP packets based on sequence numbers. Duplicate SIP should not pose a problem either. Henri _____ From: ore...@li... Subject: Re: [Oreka-user] Network Tap and Oreka Follow - up question: 1) Will orkaudio discard duplicate packets from the same sip (and necessarily rtp) session? a. I have to dual tap, once on the lan and once on the wan because the switch will not always transmit sip/rtp through the lan when the call is from the wan and then redirected back out the wan (as in sip trunking). In order to capture these calls, I must tap the wan, but I must also tap the lan for internal calls. So sometimes orkaudio will have the same set of sip/rtp packets through each separate tap (4 nics - 2taps), because calls through the wan will go on through the lan. b. If orkaudio does not discard duplicate packets, will I have duplicate calls or "funny" audio on the final .wav file? Is it through winpcap, nic bonding or the actual code itself? Thanks! Subject: Re: [Oreka-user] Network Tap and Oreka If I use a network tap as described in snort, then I will have to use two Nic cards and have Oreka listen to both to record a conversation. But now that means I will get two files with only one side of the conversation in each. How can I merge the two files to listen to one conversation? I have a gigabit network and cannot seem to find an inexpensive span ported gigabit switch, nor can I find a gigabit hub. Does anyone know where I can get one for low cost? Thanks, Jonathan |
