Improves performance for opening large directories of files, about 0.2s
for 2500 files, down from 2.5s.

Some cleanup according to PEP8, bugs revealed by static analysis.

Files can now be sorted by size as well.

Open archives in order of last modified date.

Adds an additional preference option to "Advanced", controlling
the order of files as retrieved from FileProvider. Currently
supports sorting by name (previous default) and sorting by mtime.
