alvarado: New apply method to speed up computation of sparse pixels.

alvarado: @FIX: Functionality displaying 1D and 2D histograms was not implemented as documented. All show() methods now work as stated in the documentation and enhanced to also allow "lined" matrices.

alvarado: @ADD: A few new parameters allow much more flexibility when displaying vectors and 1D histograms. Also the configuration dialog was enhanced to support the new parameters. Now the colors for background and lines can be selected as well a a few display options that should help in the visualization of vector objects.
