I found a way to get the Telstra 4G USB Modem to work with IPCop. The model I have is ZTE MF821 there is also a post paid model Sierra 320U which should be able to work the same just has different USB IDs I used the instructions in http://www.eigenmagic.com/2012/03/14/how-to-get-telstra-4g-mobile-broadband-working-with-linux/ Also see this thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2060627&p=-1 but I have to run modprobe usbserial as the /dev/ttyUSB0 etc are not created automatically on boot or at any time Also any chance that QMI WWAN driver support can be added to IPCop. This makes the USB Modems run as a network interface rather than using PPP and is much faster as PPP is limited to 25Mbit |

Is an extension archaic but functional. if you have doubt, ask me directly http://ipcop.exis.cl:8090/ipcop2-ha-addon.tar.gz luck and patience for installation :) On Fri, 1 Feb 2013 19:23:09 -0300 Oscar Peredo <osc...@ex...> wrote: > My solution is free, is based in ucarp, with other programs for synchronization > > > i'm writing a little manual for share my solution > > > it's based in plugin of HA for ipcop 1.4 > > > > > > On Fri, 1 Feb 2013 12:00:29 +0000 > John Edwards <jo...@co...> wrote: > > > Hi > > > > The problem with VRRP has been that Cisco has patents that cover > > some of it's functionalityand could be used against other people > > that implement VRRP: > > https://www.ietf.org/ietf-ftp/IPR/VRRP-CISCO > > http://kerneltrap.org/node/477 > > > > Which is what caused OpenBSD to introduce CARP. > > > > On Fri, Feb 01, 2013 at 08:37:29AM -0200, André Luiz Rodrigues Ferreira wrote: > > > One tip. My solution is free, is based in ucarp, with other programs for synchronization i'm writing a little manual for share my solution it's based in plugin of HA for ipcop 1.4 On Fri, 1 Feb 2013 12:00:29 +0000 John Edwards <jo...@co...> wrote: > Hi > > The problem with VRRP has been that Cisco has patents that cover > some of it's functionalityand could be used against other people > that implement VRRP: > https://www.ietf.org/ietf-ftp/IPR/VRRP-CISCO > http://kerneltrap.org/node/477 > > Which is what caused OpenBSD to introduce CARP. > > On Fri, Feb 01, 2013 at 08:37:29AM -0200, André Luiz Rodrigues Ferreira wrote: > > One tip. Hi The problem with VRRP has been that Cisco has patents that cover some of it's functionalityand could be used against other people that implement VRRP: https://www.ietf.org/ietf-ftp/IPR/VRRP-CISCO http://kerneltrap.org/node/477 Which is what caused OpenBSD to introduce CARP. One tip. You can use VRRPD (http://off.net/~jme/vrrpd/). It's simple and functional. I've had problems with crashes of the cluster using UCARP(using IPCop 1.4). Call me if you need help. Hi If you dislike Cisco's patent-burdened, then the most common open source alternative is OpenBSD's CARP: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Address_Redundancy_Protocol which has a Linux user space implementation called ucarp: http://www.pureftpd.org/project/ucarp There is also the Linux Heartbeat from the Linux-HA project, which can be run over serial or UDP to check if another system is OK: http://www.linux-ha.org/wiki/Heartbeat http://www.linux-ha.org/doc/users-guide/users-guide.html It's often used with the Linux Virtual Server (high availability not virtualised machines) to provide load balancing and failover: http://www.linuxvirtualserver.org/ These projects would not be a finished solution for IPCop and will take some work to build and integrate them. To build these project from source you will first need to get and build the IPCop source: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/ipcop/wiki/BuildingHowToV2 It's been many years since I've used them, but from memory ucarp is probably the easiest to setup but it does not have "out of band" (eg non-network) communication. If you need a quick solution then the OpenBSD based Pfsense firewall has inbuilt CARP with pfsync rules sync: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PfSense On Thu, Jan 31, 2013 at 07:05:14PM -0800, Osmar Gonzalez wrote: > Sorry, but that's not how we roll here. > (Lo siento, pero nuestra philosophia es diferente) > > On Thu, Jan 31, 2013 at 3:27 PM, André L.R.Ferreira - Netdeep < > alr...@ne...> wrote: > >> Hello guys, >> My company developed a HA solution for IPCop 2 with VRRP.
