And tried 4.2.1. It doesn't try to sync all the contacts every time but it won't sync Outlook Calendar with Google.
And I just tried 4.1.34 and it does the same thing.
GCSM resyncs the same contacts from Google to Outlook, Calendar syncing not working.
Some Calendar Items not Syncing
Thank you, found the contact causing the skip, Log said - Because sync deletion turned off, turned on Sync delete with prompt removed contact and turned off again Sorted Have a great weekend
1 Contact skipped, but which one?
yes, there is a log in your file system C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\GoContactSyncMOD The file to the log is also displayed in the Application window when the application is started</username>
1 Contact skipped, but which one?
Thank you for trying, but I concur with Fabio, 4.1.34 still has the issue mentioned. Went back to to 4.1.33 for now. Appreciate the effort.
Question about GCSM V. 4.3
GCSM always works with Outlook classic only. Currently no support for new outlook, even not yet planned
Florian Saller - Moved back to v4.1.33 and all is back to normal with contacts and appts. No more have all updated from Google to Outlook. So there is still something other than NET8.8.1 in play for Apps Releases above 4.1.33 especially in the appts that are repeating like holidays and birthdays. If the Google update to Outlook for recurring appointments in 4.1.34 with NET 4.7.2 could be resolved, then I would think that branch would work, Thanks for all your help on this!
Florian Saller - this morning moved back to the 4.1.34 with NET 4.7.2 and all still get every contact info updated from Google (instead of none as no changes) - this is ONLY On the first run, then 2nd run 5 contact (of 1800) were updated, but all appts that are recurring (like birthdays & holidays) are updated (updated appt from Google to outlook) as reported in the first try above.
Question about GCSM V. 4.3
Hello, yes, I tested version 4.1.34 and it still has the same problem as version 4.2.1. It keeps constantly updating unchanged contacts in all synchronizations even though no changes have been made to the contact.
yes, it is the newest version of GCSM, just with Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 with same hash calculation as 4.1.x versions
Florian Saller - Then tested by backing up my local Outlook contacts and calendar and deleting both from Outlook and Google. Loaded the latest v4.3.0 with 8.8.1 and reset matches - sync'd outlook cal/contacts restored to Google. All went well and Google showed contacts and calendar,. Then ran the sync again and had an information on every contact - updated contact from Google to outlook and took a long time - like the first sync. The same happened with appointments.
UPDATE #2 Loading v4.2.1 again and setting the months back to 1 month, the error still occurs as first reported with the times extending to 0600 , plus every one of the appointments now (slowly) scrolls on every sync with date & time then Information Updated appointment from Outlook to Google. This is the same type response when the matches are not in sync - like when I Sync my notebook instead of my desktop. The first sync is always slow, then slow again when I return from traveling and move back...
Florian Saller - Using v4.3.0 with the v4.7.2 NET seems to work as closer to 4.1.33 results. The first run I did get a few contacts (like 50 out of 1700) saying they updated from Google and as well all Holidays appts and a few birthdays were updated from Google. The second run following the first - only 8 contacts updated from Google and still same amount of appts - most being birthdays and all or most all holidays [ones with fixed day of the month] (note: I sync 1 month back and 40 months ahead)....
UPDATE #2 Loading v4.2.1 again and setting the months back to 1 month, the error still occurs as first reported with the times extending to 0600 , plus every one of the appointments now (slowly) scrolls on every sync with date & time then Information Updated appointment from Outlook to Google. Can you verify the link above is for a newer version?
Updating all contacts from Google to Outlook every sync
I think I found the reason after several internet searches and trying out: Obviously, the hash algorithm we are using to collapse the Google Account name into an Outlook Property name changed between the .NET Framework 4.7.2 (used in 4.1.x versions and earlier) and 4.8.1 (used in the newer versions). Unfortunately we needed to upgrade to 4.8.1 to be on the Microsoft supported Framework, but there seems to be no backward compliance with the hash algorithm. Please test the version I released here and...

updated to latest nugets
Hi, I searched the whole GCSM code, there is no word “Weeks” anywhere in the code, neither in the application code, nor in the installation code (Wix) nor in the UnitTests. So this is for sure NOT coming from GCSM, otherwise Thousands of other users would have the same problem, and I checked it on my PC, there is no Weeks folder under my Trash. Sorry for the bad news. Hope you find the problem in any other constellation. BR, Flo
Error and it is taking all day to sync.
So far as I've seen, it doesn't appear that this bug has been acknowledged by the developer. This bug apparently has been mentioned in several other open requests in the past: https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/bugs/1411/ https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/bugs/1410/ https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/support-requests/1026/ I've rolled back to 4.1.33 which doesn't exhibit this issue that 4.2.1 did and just ignore the 4.2.1 update nag message when running/using the program.
Still no new version released. Has this been acknowledged as a bug to your knowledge?
Appears to be a cache issue or relic within GoContactSyncMod. More details in email sent 11/25/2025. Please re-open or resolve.
Deleted Email Subfolder Reappearing
I am not aware of any subfolder that Go Contact sync creates. Maybe this is a side effect, but as of my knowledge not connected with GoContact sync. If you need further support, I need to know, what is the subfolder name?! and why it disturbs, if it is anyway created under Trash?
I also did the "Fix the Interface" steps 3 times and still the same errors ( HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface{00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\TypeLib HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\WOW6432Node\Interface{00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\TypeLib HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Classes\Interface{00063001-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\TypeLib)
Could not connect to 'Microsoft Outlook
None that I found, I just rolled back to 4.1.33, and then just ignore the new version nag notice every time I run the Googlesyncmod application and do a sync.
Is there a fix for this issue other than rolling back to 4.1.33? Its very annoying to see the same bunch of contacts getting updated over and over...especially when you have several thousands of contacts.
I have the same issue. It now sync's all contacts on every sync, even though no change to the contact was made. Additionally, I have 253 Google contacts, yet it showed only synced 68 of the 253. As a test I updated all 253 Google contacts by opening each and making a minor change with save. After that it synced 250 of 253. The next day I went to see if I could identify what 3 are missing from the sync and it now shows only 67 are being synced. Is there a logging mode I can set to help identify why...
I limited my syncing to Contacts only (i.e, NOT Appointments) and it worked. I then added Appointments to my sync and it's still working. A mystery
error: Could not connect to 'Microsoft Outlook'
This is my first support ticket. What do you need from me?
I am getting the same error but cannot shut down the first Outlook before running GSC; when I do, it tells me it can't run without Outlook running. Am I missing something?

That is what I ended up doing. Also, 4.1.33 does not list every contact whether it is or is not updated which takes a long time to list all 350+ contacts. Hopefully they will fix so we can move back to the current version. Until then, I suppose we are stuck on this older version.
I've had the same issue in v2 - fix was to go back to 4.1.33 See this thread and thread mentioned it it https://sourceforge.net/p/googlesyncmod/bugs/1410/
I also receive this error and an error that the version of Outlook cannot be determined. I found the above workaround works (I shutdown the Microsoft Outlook task in Task Manager, restarted Go Contact Sync, and sucessfully synced Outlook with Gmail). What I noticed was Go Contact Synce initiated the older desktop verison of Outlook for a moment at the begining of the sync. I am using the New Outlook on my desktop.
I downloaded this software today to sync my google contacts with my outlook contacts. I am running Windows 11, and my latest log file is attached. Google contacts sync to the outlook just fine, but none of the outlook contacts (or changes) sync to the google contacts. I created few in outlook and they did not show up in my google contacts. I also tried deleting a few, and those changes, also, did not show up in the google contacts. Also, the software does not seem to recognize when no changes have...
Outlook contacts do not sync to google
All resolved after installing 4.1.33.
I decided to go back to a prior release - SetupGCSM-4.1.33 as I kept getting a prompt for those 3 entries to "keep outlook." All works now. I deleted the calendar entries and they did not show up on either Outlook or Google. I then went back in and added the 3 calendar entries and I did not get any prompt to keep either one. I am hesitant to go to 4.20. I noticed in the newest release it would list every contact stating it was being updated when nothing was changed, although it only prompted me for...

Calendar Entries Will Not Delete
Also, there are 3 entries in the text file at the very end for "Valerie Kellum's Birthday...", Bryan Barber's Birthday...." and "Jackie Hamby's Birthday...." which I deleted 2-3 times both in Outlook and Google. While I have other recurring birthday entries they do not come up repeatedly. These were previously "Valerie Kellum Birthday" without the date in the title in hopes they would quit coming up but as soon as I add them they are back asking which one to update when nothing has changed? There...
Log for this AM in hopes it helps
I am getting messages that a conflict has been detected but nothing has changed by me on those records. What is causing these unchanged entries to show up? I got 8 entries this morning stated they changed.

I found a workaround to this, working at least in my case. I hope this helps to others to fix this bug/issue. In my case, the Elevated property is always set to "No" for both Outlook and GCSM processes. So, same user and same elevation level always. Also, I always had an OUTLOOK.EXE process already in memory. So, when GCSM starts and tries to sync, it creates temporarily (a few seconds only) another second instance of OUTLOOK.EXE (again, same user and not elevated) that suddenly disappears just before...

I am having EXACTLY the same issue here, after installing latest version of GCSM (4.2.1) in Windows 11. I have also confirmed both applications (OUTLOOK.EXE and GCSM executable) are both launched by the same windows user (my standard user). I've tried reinstalling a few times, but still same errors. I've been using GCSM since 2020 and first time seeing this error.

Sync Notification: Appointments Have Changed
yes, that is true. But this timeline was already adjusted several times. In 2023 it was said 2+ years, now it is 2025 and still not disappeared, actually the classic Outlook is still standard in many companies, as the one I am working in. So maybe they will even prolong it after 2029. But we try to work on a new fork for this GCSM new to support Outlook web services as well, but I think we need some volunteers to do so, because I am currently quite busy with other (business and private) tasks
Indeed but the writing is on the wall. Classic Outlook will be EOL in 2029. Sure, quite a few years. It's why I wrote "One Outlook will be a total breaking change for GCSM"
GCSM is currently NOT working with New Outlook. The Microsoft announcement only affects the old (free) Mail & Calendar apps, which are pre-installed on Windows 11. see the content of the links provided below: These changes will not affect your organization’s use of classic Outlook for Windows. In parallel, we have a feature request to also support the Web version (new Outlook), but the (sparetime) developers need time for it and maybe some more donations to afford this fundamental change, maybe it...

GCSM works with PST (e.g. if using POP), but also with OST (e.g. if using Exchange or IMAP)
Hi Rob, as mentioned above, this is NOT true. Traditional Outlook is still working. If you switched to new Outlook (e.g. to try it out), you can easily switch back, just click the button on the upper right of the new Outlook
I can confirm that this is happening on my wife's computer with 4.2.1 but not on mine with 4.1.33. I'm going to try to downgrade hers to 4.1.33 to see what happens.
Sorry, it didn't work well with what I've posted for you... The examples shown for "after sync in Google" are here correctly reported, instead of what I wrote in my message with HTML codes as they appear in Google! You'll find attached image of reality!
