After playing mp3 for a while under hard system load
it sounds like my speakers a broken or something.

I have the via82cxxx_audio driver that ships with
kernel 2.4.10, and ive had this problem in all of the
2.4 kernels.

The easiest way to get this scratching sound is to
play a DivX movie with aviplay (comes with avifile).

Or you could play a mpeg with any smpeg player.
