I got this too - and it was because I was running the 10.4-transitional tree. In a
Terminal, run "fink --version" and if the version is not 0.8.1 or greater, then you
must fix fink. See http://www.finkproject.org/news/ on 2006-07-24 for more
information.

Sorry for the confusion. This message is not related to Fink but to Fink
Commander. When Fink Commander starts up it asks if I would like to update to
0.5.4, even though that is the version I am running.

Fink 0.8.1, FinkCommander 0.5.4 (release binary), package manager version 0.27.0, using Mac OS X 10.4.8 PowerPC. A similar configuration did not bring issues on a Mac OS X 10.4.8 Intel configuration, but there were other issues...

I still have the same issue on FinkCommander
