I'm using Fink Commander Version 0.5.4 (.release)
with Fink Package manager version: 0.24.26,
Distribution version: 0.8.1.rsync i386

When trying to install gnome-terminal, at one point
the output displayed "Do you want to continue? [Y/n]",
but no question poped up and it was impossible to
interact to say "yes". As a result, I could install
gnome-terminal.

Using fink in command line, it was ok.

    Read "user input" instead of "inout" in the topic. Sorry.

    (I know this is an ancient bug report, but I came across this in a search for a similar issue. I'll post my work-around for posterity & the benefit of others.)

    I had this also happen after just freshly installing fink & FinkCommander on a new Mac OS X 10.4 installation. (I had been using fink & FinkCommander for years, but recently had to re-install the OS cleanly after a nasty crash.)

    After installing and setting up both fink and FinkCommander, the first time I ran FinkCommander , I got the following (as expected):

    Mirror selection

    The Fink team maintains mirrors known as "Master" mirrors, which contain the sources for all fink packages. You can choose to use these mirrors first, last, never, or mixed in with regular mirrors. If you don't
    care, just select the default.

    (1) Search "Master" source mirrors first.
    (2) Search "Master" source mirrors last.
    (3) Never use "Master" source mirrors.
    (4) Search closest source mirrors first. (combine all mirrors into one set)

    What mirror order should fink use when downloading sources? [1]

    However, there was no way to select [1] and continue, and there was no GUI pop-up allowing the selection to be made, and I could not even select in the preferences to "always select the default".

    Basically, after a fresh install, you must run "fink" from the command line (Terminal) at least once to set all this info,

    $ sudo fink -y update-all

    After doing this (from the shell), then FinkCommander properly shows the pop-up's when Fink asks questions.

    Cheers,
    -m

    ps: this is probably documented somewhere, but I didn't see it; e.g., http://finkcommander.sourceforge.net/help/install.php

    Previous comment was using:
    * Fink Commander Version 0.5.5 (0.5.5.release),
    * Mac OS X 10.4.11 (intel), and
    * fink... well, Fink-0.8.1-Intel-Installer.dmg , but "fink -V" => Package manager version: 0.29.9
