Commander not working

I installed fink and fink commander some time ago on an Apple Pro
Book
(intel) running MAC OS X 10.4
everything worked fine.
an automatic mac update was performed early that week...

today i used again fink commander to install S/W but now I am asked
two times for a password. givig the right password fink starts not
downloading
message:
"The tool that FinkCommander uses to run commands as root does not
have the necessary permissions.
By entering your password you will give the tool the authorization it
needs to repair itself.
Under some circumstances you may need to enter your password
twice. "
I read your comments on the sudo file and checked the permissions:
-r-s--x--x 1 root wheel 206908 Jan 13 2006 sudo
(looks ok to me)
