BUG: when on foot, the physics are set as though you were already in a vehicle.
TOFIX: use the same method as in GOOH:
- make running physics normal
- set walking physics to the way it should be when in the vehicle
- cover the whole map with a liquid
- change mml to make the liquid invisible
- use lua to raise the liquid when the player enters the vehicle
For this map, the player shouldn't be able to hover/swim up, so use a large gravitational acceleration to keep him/her on the ground.

i had first changed this to a feature request, because that's what it is, but then I realized that I had no intention (or desire) to implement it. this is a holodeck programmed into dream stasis, so the fact that the player's movement is off is acceptable (not to mention that it's only for a short time and that the effort to make it so the player can sidestep for a few seconds is not even close to being worth the effort required to implement this).

This is one of a handful of issues I still feel should be addressed before release. The other holodecks live up to the standard of the rest of the game, without odd behavior, so I don't think the fact that this is a holodeck simulation is a good justification.

Moreover, I had a new idea on how to switch between running and walking physics that doesn't require flooding the map. When you have the ball, the engine makes you walk instead of run. So give the player a ball when he gets in the vehicle, make the ball WIH look like the vehicle instead of whichever weapon is used now, and change the running physics back to normal, on-foot settings. Then, the player will run until he gets in, and then switch to walking, in-vehicle physics.

the ball physics only works in net games; in fact, it's not possible to give the player the ball in a solo game.

I'm going to re-open this. I still consider it a bug, because the physics for walking are simply wrong. I can make the necessary adjustments to the physics and the level myself, after any other 3.1 modifications have been made. Then duplicating the remaining mml and lua effects from GOOH will hopefully be worth the effort.
