#10 Magit Editting Commit Message Is Slow (Lags)

When using Emacs 25.0.90 and using Magit to work with a Git repository, editting the commit message lags severely, a few seconds between keypress and the result on screen.

This lag is not present on 24.5.1.

I have not yet tried this in Linux.

I did recompile all of the modules and restart Emacs before using Magit.

    Hi Aaron,

The lags may relate to the parameter change. I compile and upload a new version (http://sourceforge.net/projects/emacsbinw64/files/pretest/emacs-bin-w64-25.0.90-2.7z/download) which is built with the switches suggested by Eli Zaretskii. Could you please test with this version and see whether the problem is still there?

    Sorry,
    Chris

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I only use this package at work where I'm stuck with a Windows machine. So, I don't often have time to fool around with software.

I just grabbed the latest stable you have released (25.0.94), and the lag is still present. However, the delay is in hundreds of milliseconds instead of thousands of milliseconds.

        Sorry for that. Some guesses:

        • The lag may relate to the changes in emacsclient. You can test this by trying the offical version
          http://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/pretest/windows/.

        • The lag may be caused by garbage collection. You can test this by M-: (setq garbage-collection-messages t) or M-x profiler-start and M-x profiler-report.

        • Hooks? Timers?

        • Antivirus softwares?
