New PC and the issue is not replicated.
Just for information. SD2IEC support is similar, to using Virtual-Device-Traps in Denise. However, Denise can currently only load the first file of a multi-file C64 software via VDT, while the subsequent files are loaded normally then (or via speeder-kernel, if one is active). For full SD2IEC support, Denise would need to enable also the reloading of the following files with VDT and all the fastloaders, that are already integrated into the SD2IEC firmware, would then need to be integrated into Denise...

aga emulation?
hi again. I want to suggest two new skill for you fantastic emu. one vic-20 support, like other users. and another one more agressive and differrent to use Denisse for programming and updated new uses. maybe, I don't know, will be fantastic include on software options new skills of homebrewers. lan/wifi support to online play and use like 80's BBS, and support a option that emulates rad expansion unit. as you know this trick does a virtyal cpu replacement for.raspberry pi zero, getting a significative...
Total nonsense. First of all, I don't know, who you are, or what business this is of yours, but if someone's going to chime in uninvited and even don't tell the own name, then don't write lies, stick to the facts. I asked about a feature here, just like everyone else, in a friendly manner. Initially, there was no response at all for a longer time, even though all the other requests here were answered. When I followed up several weeks later, the programmer simply replied, "It seems nobody cares,"...
That's not self-righteous, this rather follows natural logic. There are hundreds of Amiga games where no one can remember in each game, whether it loads only from DF0, or also from the other three floppies and if, on the other hand, it's not a problem for such a game, that only loads from DF0, if disks are present in other three floppies (and that's the case in 99%) then logic dictates, that this is the best way, to start Amiga multi-disk games. You're practically never wrong, when using this way,...
Going into a free open source application project that people work on in their spare time because they enjoy it, and act like someone should either be beholden to implement specific features that you personally feel are missing, or be obligated to explain why they're not doing it, is not a good way of going about things. If you want the feature, the source is there, and you're welcome to implement it yourself and provide a patch, which the original author may then choose to incorporate in the original...
If you insert up to four disks for each game, your suggestion will certainly speed things up. Knowing that this is always the best approach That sounds rather self-righteous, I doubt that the majority of users will proceed this way if it's unclear whether the game supports multiple drives. In most cases, the first two disks are sufficient; if you want to continue playing, the next disk can be inserted later. I don't want Denise to become a jungle of options, most of which are unclear in terms of...
Hy. Yes, I know that function, in which the user, at the beginning, can select all four gamedisks at once and Denise then insert them in the following floppies and I also mentioned it, in my comment. It's a nice function, but nevertheless, it's easier and more comfortable, to simply start the first disk of a multi-disk-software in DF0 and nothing more and if Denise then also inserts the following disks in the other available floppies. Denise can find the following disks of a software automatically...
Why don't you select all four game disks at once using D'n'D and drag them all into the Denise window in one go? Furthermore, subsequent disks can be inserted via hotkey, and another hotkey "select disk drive" can be used to control which drive the subsequent disks are inserted into.

??? Without a reasonable answer, the request was closed, while most other requests get a normal answer. Strange. But okay, there are other good C-64 emulators too.
SD2IEC support?
Nobody? I thought the only person, that implement things in Denise is you? Or are there other people too?
Obviously, nobody wants to implement this feature.
Hello?
Improved disk-insertion function for multi-disk Amiga software
The thread-starter here. Thanks for wiping out these bugs. Very nice. As always, the problem was fixed immediately, which is a cool thing!
Indeed, I checked the latest test version of denise 1445 and the problem is really gone now. Thank you for the quick fix of the emulator! (nowadays hardly anyone has free time) I will put here where the test version of denise 1445 can be found: https://ci.appveyor.com/project/piciji/denise/builds/53464230/job/sm2ycy5yuh7bnbhh/artifacts Cheers, Tom
new nightly fixes both bugs - extra bacon logo - when left coloured twister is showing a few seconds later. ... background dots are still displayed.
I'm pleased that groups and discussions about Denise are springing up in various places, and it shows me that I'm not just developing the emulator to fulfill my own needs, but that other people are also spending some of their time with it. Over time, I've given several interviews, separately for C64 and Amiga emulation, and discussed numerous posts, feature requests, and improvements. My limited free time is currently barely enough for further development. One can find me on forum64 and eab.abime.net....

I've now looked at it again in direct comparison with a youtube-video of this demo, after reading this nfo-file, and I have to say, it's hard to see, that anything is wrong in this twister-part, to be honest. Well, maybe you'll notice something, Piciji, I certainly can't say for sure, what the problem should be.
Ah indeed, I overlooked this twister thing and also, that it was already mentioned on Pouet. But there's also this communicated bug with the "Extra Bacon" lettering, as a second problem. I am sure, it will be fixed in Denise, as always. Thanks in advance.
look at the "nfo" link at the upper right on Pouet page of this demo. There's a description of the error in Denise there. It says it affects the "Twister part". I'll take a look at it as soon as I have time.

I (the thread-starter) have also tested again, with two emulator-windows side by side (current Denise version and current WinUAE) and I also see only one discrepancy in this demo and that's the one, TOM has already mentioned, with this "Extra Bacon" logo. In Denise, this lettering is partially not visible at all (it should appear earlier) and then, when it's shown, only a part of it can be seen, while it's normally visible on a real Amiga 500 and in current WinUAE. So this must be the problem, mentioned...
The only thing I noticed that deviates is the instability in the display of the text "Extra Bacon" in the lower left corner of the screen - see the attached picture. The configuration in denise when testing was: A500 ECS 1.3KS 512+512 PS. Regardless, denise is still my favorite emulator for C64 and Amiga 500 computers. ;) Best Regrads, Tom
Probably a problem in Denise with the new Amiga-demo "Bacon of Hope"?
That's certainly a subjective assessment, as it's not true. In recent years, several adjustments have been made to reSID (from author of reSIDfp, It seems), which I've incorporated into Denise. (last year) The differences mentioned by the author compared to residfp seem rather minor. I wonder if the effort is worthwhile.

if ((sdrShiftCount > 1 && sdrShiftCount < 15) || (sdrShiftCount == 15 && !(delay & CIA_CNT2)) { events.add( &finishSdr, 2, Emulator::SystemTimer::Action::UpdateExisting ); } Thank you, that works well and I've added it. if (0 /* This code path is for the outlier CIA chips marked 6526 4485 */) I just noticed that the testbench has been changed so that "4485" is no longer set as the default for old CIA serial direction change tests. I think that's good, since "4485" is the exception. A few years ago,...

VIC20 support sounds great. And could you also make VIC-VAN-HINTEN support please? Another visitor (stay a while, stay forever)
Could you make it also support VIC20?
VIC20 Support
The installer installs following Dependencies: libgtk-3-0,libpulse0,libudev1,libxcb-xinput0,libxcb-xfixes0,libmp3lame0 One of them might be causing a problem in your system.
I tried 2.7 again and now it seems to work. The installer still freezes (I have to xkill the process to end it) but everything gets installed and works. It sometimes happens that starting Denise does not display the main window even though the "denise" process is running in the background. Once this happens I can only get the main window back after restarting the computer. It's hard to pinpoint when this happens. But that's just a minor problem, I just leave Denise running. Thanks again for a great...
Hello. Sadly there was no answer to this so far. A short reply from the author of this project, if SD2IEC support could be added to the todo list, would be nice. Regards, Tony
Thank you :D
One could implement it so that as soon as the configuration contains media, it is started if no CRT is selected in the configuration. Priority: Disk/Tape/PRG I'll add it to the to-do list.
P.S. In addition to my request. I could imagine a label "Autorun:" before a drop down with values "Nothing", "Disk in Device 8", "Tape", "Program 1" within the config tab. The selection being saved and loaded with each configuration (and "Nothing" as default if missing :)

I was able to use Denise 2.7 in Mint Cinnamon 22.2 without any problems. An incorrect setting might be causing the issue. You could try renaming the Denise settings files "C64_settings, Amiga_settings, global_settings" in the .config folder. This will revert to the default settings. If it then works without problems, please send me the problematic config files. "Installed-Size is not available KiB" This is just display information. I'll see if I can change it.

Impossible installation on Linux
I just tried it in a live session of Mint CNM 22 and there I could open and close Denise without any problem. So the fault is probably on my system. However, even in the live session the install didn't fully complete because there was an error saying "Installed-Size is not available KiB". Don't know if this is any help.
I'll leave the ticket open and as soon as I have time, I'll install a Linux system with Ubuntu 24.04 as a base and see if I can reproduce the problem.
Thank you for that. Building went smooth, but it still doesn't work. Denise starts fine, but after closing and reopening only the background process is active and the main window does no longer display. There's probably something wrong with my system, I have some other problems with it as well. I switched back to v2.6 for the time being. Thanks again for your quick reply and help.
This version is for Linux with Ubuntu 22.04 as the base. Ignore the 20.04 in the filename, I forgot to rename it. Cinnamon 22.2 is based on Ubuntu 24.04 and requires a separate DEB package. But you can easily build it from the source code. Install dependencies. Most will already be installed. sudo apt install libgtk-3-dev sudo apt install mesa-common-dev sudo apt install libpulse-dev sudo apt install libudev-dev sudo apt install libxcb-xinput-dev && apt install libxcb-xfixes0 sudo apt install libusb-1.0-0-dev...

Hy. Indeed, SD2IEC support would be cool. It's not as compatible as 1541U, U64 or Turbo-Chameleon, but it's very cheap and it supports d81 too, therefore I really like it. A possibility, to test in Denise, whether a particular reloading-software works with the SD2IEC, would be really practical. Cheers, Richard
SD2IEC support?
OP: Thank you so much for your work, much appreciated!
[Feature request] Support for KCS Power Cartridge
Thanks for adding it. I’ve already tested the nightly build. And thanks for the hint, noted.
Thank you, I've added it. Nightly should be built. A few more hints for carts. - constructor: do not use system functions such as "changeExpansionPortMemoryMode", as not everything may be initialized at this time. - BIN compatibility: CRTs can be converted to BINs using "cartconv". BINs do not contain information about the cart's structure. This information must be added using "assumeChips", if the chunks are not 8k. I haven't tested this with KCS or Structured Basic, but it should work in both cases,...

Ok, take your time.
Thank you for your work. I'll integrate it in a few days.
One more update: Drag & drop handling was initially missing and has now been fixed: KCS cartridges are correctly classified as Freezer cartridges instead of GameCart, which resolves broken startup.
One more update: Drag & drop handling was initially missing and has now been fixed: KCS cartridges are correctly classified as Freezer cartridges instead of GameCart, which resolves broken startup, reset issues, and non-working freeze behavior.
Update: I’ve completed testing and the implementation now appears stable. I attached a patch that adds support for the KCS Power Cartridge to Denise. Tested cartridges: - KCS Power Cartridge 1985 V1 - KCS Power Cartridge 1985 V2 - KCS Power Cartridge 1989 Functionality tested: - Toolkit commands - Disk commands - Powermon commands - Backup disk - Reset functions - Freeze menu - Multiple freeze operations Features implemented: - Correct startup logo - Full IO1 / IO2 handling - 128 bytes cartridge...
I’ve been working on this in the meantime and I’ve implemented support for the KCS Power Cartridge in Denise locally. It is based on the 1989 version of the cartridge and closely follows the behavior of the VICE implementation (config modes, IO1/IO2 handling, 128 byte RAM, EXROM/GAME switching, freeze mode etc.). At the moment: - Startup logo appears correctly - Freeze menu works - Multiple freeze operations work - Cartridge behavior matches VICE in my tests so far All testing so far has been done...
I forgot to mention one thing. If you have more than one Denise version on your computer, then you can also "undock" a Denise version (in the "configurations" menue), then this undocked version of the emulator, will no longer be automatically updated with your default settings anymore. Undocking here means, that the three config-file were automatically copied over in the emulator-own folder of this Denise version. Then these files are independent from other setting files, and this Denise version...
Nice, good to hear. Best regards
already on todo list.
Save Joypad Profiles.
Hardware SID: USBSID-Pico support
The settings were also not overwritten, when you go into the Options menue and simply turn off the function, that Denise should save it's settings automatically, at the end of a session. Regards, Marky Mark
[Feature request] Support for AR3 (and maybe also AR2) cartridge in the Amiga emulation of Denise
More info here: https://rr.pokefinder.org/wiki/Power_Cartridge
Thank you very much. The Power Cartridge was very popular here. There were two versions, one from 1985 and one from 1989, although I don't know what the differences are (if any).
[Feature request] Support for KCS Power Cartridge
Okay. I'll put the ticket on "pending" until I or someone else has time for it.
