However, we could discuss about this as option for "local against AIs" or "just for fun amongst friends". But then, getting used to it and then not have it in "real" games... ?!? -Clemens ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2012-02-29 05:21 Message: The rules of the game are that once you look at an opponent's legion in an engagement you are committed to resolving that engagement now. This started about a week ago and I did try to start a game using only AIs which failed, and then tried to start a normal 1human vs. 5AI game which also fails. This of course could just be a coincidence to some code change that was done. Woooah! "Nowadays" games keep on listening on the socket for new connections (in case a player dropped out, like on public server). Due to this what happened to you, I've made a feature request that even AI-only games should bring up one board when started from the GUI: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=1939&atid=351939 Closing this one here in near future, lowering priority again (since it was not a generic problem). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2012-02-25 15:56 Message: I think I'm ok now, here's what I think the deal is. (I'm by no means a programmer or anything past moderately knowledgable PC user). I DL'ed v 0.12.1 and ran it, got the error. I then wanted to clean up the files on the desktop and it would not move the 0.12.1 folder, saying something was in use. I had no apps or window open, so opened W7 Task manager only to discover like 30 java "processes" active. Closed all of them, ran 0.12.1, success. Ran 0.13.0, success. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2012-02-25 15:47 Message: Ok, cool, you should know that all suggested workarounds resulted in the same error: changing name, link in upper right, and version 0.12.1 all give me the same: Woooah!... message. Thanks for your help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Clemens Katzer (cleka) Date: 2012-02-25 12:44 Message: Arggh. That's nasty. I raised priority of this. ( That is exactly the newest release, 0.13.0. ) So this happened now since Java decided it's time to look for update and discovered that the webstart link offers now a new release (published there Feb 5). As workaround, try to change your name in the "Players" tab to something with only lowercase letters. Or play using an older version, e.g. the " "Play (Java Webstart)" link (on upper right corner of the web page): http://colossus.sourceforge.net/ Public Testing Build from r5061: Play (Java Webstart) Or download version 0.12.1 from the Download area on Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/colossus/files/ I will look into it and try to fix it quickly. -Clemens ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101939&aid=3493976&group_id=1939 |

Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2012-02-25 15:47 Message: Ok, cool, you should know that all suggested workarounds resulted in the same error: changing name, link in upper right, and version 0.12.1 all give me the same: Woooah!... message. I apparently misunderstood what this line meant. I haven't used the scrollback feature and didn't konw it was related to that. I thought it was some information about the results of the current strike rather than which strike it was. Probably you can just close this. But perhaps saying (strike 4 of 4) would make it more apparent that it is referring to a strike instance rather than result. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Clemens Katzer (cleka) Date: 2011-11-06 09:10 Message: You mean the e.g. (4 of 4) in front of the whole line? I believe this is meant/useful for the scrollback possibility; so while it builds it up, it's always "N of N". But if somebody scrolls back it can show (4 of 15). What is your proposal how it should be displayed instead? (x of y) when x < y, but if at the newest item treat it specially? Not sure whether it's worth it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101939&aid=3433918&group_id=1939 |

Category: AI Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: Invalid Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Clemens Katzer (cleka) Summary: Titan cheats and switches with Angel Initial Comment: I agree with the original post. I have noticed on several occasions that the Titan switches with the Angel in the AI on humanhater. This is not a misperception. I noticed it so many times that I purposely followed the Titan in the AI through every move. When it attacks without overwhelming odds (ie, close to even battle numbers), the Titan becomes the Angel when the battle map opens. Same when you attack the Titan party of an AI. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Clemens Katzer (cleka) Date: 2012-02-02 10:17 Message: Closing since invalid. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Clemens Katzer (cleka) Date: 2011-04-15 12:58 Message: What you describe is technically impossible, thus it must be a misperception. To verify it yourself, I suggest you try out the following: Enable in Options tab the autosave mode (note you should delete autosave files then every then and now). Once you encounter a "NOW the AI cheated again" case, go to the saves directory, and open a save game file from previous turn - you will see that the legions contents were all the time the same as what is then shown when a battle starts. It's simply that in default mode your GUI shows you as content of other players legion a "best guess", but if you look closely you should notice a black or red question mark (not very easily spottable, I admit) overlayed to some creature: over the ones, where your GUI (that does the tracking job for you) has no "certain" info what it is - just a guess, based on what was revealed (= is certain or can be concluded) and doing some "typical" split strategies ( e.g. "Titan is probably in the bigger part if a legion splits") As the other poster suggested: switch between the display modes "show uncertain" as blank to spot differences. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2011-04-05 17:44 Message: You do know that in most modes you only see a guess at unknown units right? You can set the game so that unknown pieces have a question mark on them or show up blank. You can also set up the game so that you can only see your own legions, completely see all legions, or only see what you could have seen or deduced according to the normal rules. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101939&aid=3276748&group_id=1939 |

Category: General Group: None Status: Open >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 3 Private: No Submitted By: Clemens Katzer (cleka) Assigned to: Clemens Katzer (cleka) Summary: No Warlock on first turn option not sync'd from web server Initial Comment: If the client side still has the setting "No warlock on first turn" active from earlier game, this option is not properly synchronized as "false" from Server side (or Web Server as well). As result player cannot recruit warlock in first turn, even if option was not set in game start (or on public game server, where it can't even be set anyway). Thanks to memetics for finding and reporting this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Clemens Katzer (cleka) Date: 2012-01-14 11:15 Message: Fixed in r5042. Keeping open as usual until next official build/release. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101939&aid=3473842&group_id=1939 |
