Hello cacti experts, Didn't posted here from yers. From my past experience and after few search using google and this mailing list archives seems that not to much changes. In the past, when I've migrated from 5 to 1 minute pooling, all .rra files generated before changes has been lost (old rras deleted in order that new rras to be created with 1 minute pooling interval). I have one cacti-0.8.8g installed and pooling at 5 minutes, by using default settings. For some reason, I want to go to "cacti 1 minute pooling", but avoiding to completelly lost history (I am talking about 8 months, ~40 servers, ~100MB all rras). Is this possible? My idea is: - to stop cron 5 minutes pooler - move all rras from cacti/rra to /tmp/cacti - export all rras from /tmp/cacti to xml - configure cacti to graph 1 minute - enable cron 1 minute pooler - start generate new rras by 1 minute So till here, we know for sure that new rra/grapgs will be generated according to 1 minute policy. My question is: Is any chances to import old rra (from exported xml) and merge it with new rras? In case is not possible, which other method exist in order that new rras (1 minute rras) to be merged with old data? One posibility is to build another one server (virtual), import there actual cacti (before changes), import sql, and old rras from xml and use it as old and "offline" archives. But this looks ugly. Any other ideas? Regards, Alx |

I graph several machines with Cacti 0.8.8 for now several years. Yesterday, I reorganized the network, restarted the Cacti server (in the process, its clock went away but resynchronized after) and, since that, one machine, but only one, has a problem. The graph is no longer updated. On the host page, I see: SNMP error And the Data Query Debug Information is + Running data query [1]. + Found type = '3' [SNMP Query]. + Found data query XML file at '/usr/share/webapps/cacti/resource/snmp_queries/interface.xml' + XML file parsed ok. + Executing SNMP get for num of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.1.0' Index Count: + Executing SNMP walk for list of indexes @ '.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.1' Index Count: 0 + No SNMP data returned But doing a snmpget by hand works fine: % snmpget -v 3 -u $USER -a SHA -A $PASSWORD -x DES -X $PASSWORD -l authPriv $MACHINE .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.1.0 IF-MIB::ifNumber.0 = INTEGER: 3 snmpwalk works as well. tcpdump shows that Cacti SNMP requests do arrive fine on the machine. Since the SNMP traffic is encrypted, I cannot easily see what Cacti sent (but, remember, all the other machines are OK, and I believe I changed nothing on the machine which is no longer properly graphed, and I changed nothing in the Cacti configuration.) Following the advice of the FAQ <http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/html/faq.html#AEN2441>, I cleared the Poller Cache, without a result. Any idea? |

Hello All, I'm not getting any graphs generated, then in looking around I see /usr/share/cacti/rra/ with no data. Just installed everything onto a centos 5.11, used yum to install cacti version cacti-0.8.8b-7.el5, already had rrd installed rrdtool-1.4.7-1.el5.rf, perl-rrdtool-1.4.7-1.el5.rf. No error messages in cacti log file or user log file. If I execute this as root " /usr/bin/php /usr/share/cacti/poller.php" Nothing happens. Any suggestions? Sorry for being such a newbie! -- Thanks! Apparently you're asking for help but you don't reply after that....
Maybe you could give people details about your OS, HTTP server etc.
When you say it happens often, do you mean that the same graph sometimes appear correctly and often it doesn't appear correctly.Or so you mean a few graphs appear correctly and many other graphs don't appear correctly ?

Hello Tony, All,
I would like to say it's a very good idea to release frequent versions of Cacti as you do right now.For a long time there was no release and in 2016 it's starting to get back with bug corrections.
I prefer small steps with frequent releases than waiting for the perfect release that would never come.
I have 2 suggestions:
a) Why don't you work with a release date like Openbsd do ? Openbsd releases versions twice a year, one in may, one in autumn. I'm not saying it should be twice a year, it could be 4 or 6.But that would be nice for the community to enjoy new (even if they're minor) improvements and also give a feedback on the new code.
b) Provide patches for any new release, at least the minor ones. It's much faster to patch a few php files that reinstalling the whole cacti with all customisations, rights permissions, have a downtime etc.
Thank you and congrats

Which distribution are you using? Did you get a recent security update? Hi folks, My guest user stopped working all of sudden ... I was able to see graphs a few days ago and now I get: the image cannot be displayed because it contains errors In the apache logs I see the request with code 200, ie, success, so it´s not a web server issue. I have guest enable and it was view permission on graphs and devices... it is happening on cacti 0.8.8b and 0.8.8f I have restarted apache and no luck ... any ideias ? thanks! |

Hi,
in our cacti installation i am seeing a bunch of data sources for
GigabitEthernet interfaces with an rrd_maximum set to 10000000 e.g.
100MBit/s - This results in broken graphs so i'd like to fix them.
Is there an easy way to find all instances with an rrd_maximum
of 100000000 and their respective hostname/ipaddress and interface name?
I found the maximum in the data_template_rrd table but i fail to
find a way to match it to a host and interface ...

In the latter case, just so you know, it is best to report your issue in the Ubuntu bug tracker. 1) It may be Debian/Ubuntu specific and 2) that way I won't forget and if not Debian/Ubuntu specific, I can forward it to the cacti bug tracker. Of course you can just go there yourself as well: http://bugs.cacti.net Unfortunately, I don't have the time right now to look into it now. Paul |
