.SH DESCRIPTION
.PP
.I Wind
is a window manager for the X Window System.
It supports virtual desktops, Xft font rendering, and is
pretty standards compliant.
.PP
A
.I display
argument may be specified to manage a display
other than the default.
.PP
The following options are recognized:
.TP
.BR \-n \ number
Set initial number of virtual desktops.
Zero means keep current setting, and is the default.
If no current setting exists, 12 desktops are allocated.
.TP
.BR \-t \ font
Use
.I font
for window titles.
.TP
.BR \-f \ color
Use
.I color
as foreground.
.TP
.BR \-b \ color
Use
.I color
as background.
.TP
.BR \-F \ color
Use
.I color
as focused foreground.
.TP
.BR \-B \ color
Use
.I color
as focused background.
.TP
.B \-v
Enable debug mode.
This puts X11 transactions in synchronous mode,
and prints Xlib errors to the standard error file descriptor.
This option will slow things down, and is only useful for debugging.
.TP
Window focus
Press a pointer button inside the window to raise it and
give it the keyboard input focus.
.TP
Moving a window
Drag the window by its title bar to the desired location.
Alternatively, hold down the
.B Alt
key and grab the window from anywhere inside its frame.
A moving window follows desktop switches.
.TP
Resizing a window
Drag the top left or right corners to resize the window.
.TP
Deleting a window
Push the
.B \(mu
button in the upper right corner of the frame to ask
the window to delete itself.
.TP
Minimizing a window
There are no minimized windows in
.IR Wind ,
but there are two substitutes:
virtual desktops help organizing related windows,
and the
.B Alt-Esc
key binding cycles between the applications on the current desktop.
.TP
Virtual desktops
.I Wind
supports virtual desktops as defined by
the Extended Window Manager Hints specification.
The first twelve desktops are addressable using the
.BI Alt-F n
key bindings.
An external pager is needed to address more than twelve desktops.
.PP
The following key bindings are provided:
.TP
.B Alt-Esc
Cycle through the open applications on the current desktop.
.TP
.B Alt-Backspace
Ask the focused window to delete itself.
.TP
.B Alt-Return
Toggle the fullscreen property of the focused window.
.TP
.B Alt-Space
Toggle stickiness of the focused window.
A sticky window is visible on all desktops.
This property is indicated by an underlined window title.
.TP
.BI Alt-F n
Switch to the
.IR n -th
virtual desktop.
.TP
.BI Shift-Alt-F n
Change number of virtual desktops to
.IR n ,
and switch to the last one.
Windows beyond desktop
.I n
are moved to
.IR n .
.B Shift-Alt-F1
is particularly useful when logging out.
.PP
.I Wind
terminates gracefully upon receipt of any of the
SIGHUP, SIGINT, and SIGTERM signals.
