All, This may be a little off the subject, but keep in mind, if you didn't already know, that nVidia is the group who bought out the 3Dfx folks. I have hopes they will keep up the 3Dfx drivers, specifically for the legacy applications. Dear Neil, we use NVIDIA Geforce 2, which is supported under Linux with hardware accelerated OpenGL and the same drivers support also Quadro2 Pro. The GL drivers provided are not open source, so there may be problems to install it in an old or non-standard Linux installation. The performances are very good, but with some crashes on a 2-processor machine.
