Fix spin button initialisation

Unclear why expanding compressed if statement into long hand variant
actually resolves correct initialisation of '-1' defaults.

Thus e.g. for Preferences->Advanced->The number of recent files
now shows the internal value of '-1';
(rather the upper bound of the spin box allowed value)
