Does not start by default in Eclipse 4.4.1 SR1
Eclipse Plugin to find unused Java code

I'm trying to use UCDetector with Eclipse for JEE developers SR1 (4.4.1) on Windows XP 64 bit with oracle JDK 8u11. The plugin only "sort of" works:
1) it does not start by default when placed in either dropins/ or plugins/ directories, however it can be manually started using the ./eclipse -console workaround at http://www.ucdetector.org/faq.html. What is the cause of this issue - can it not be fixed? All other plugins auto-start OK.
2) no markers shown in the problems view, so I'm having to use the HTML report - I've tried configuring the contents of the problems view to show all markers but no luck.
