Hi, after a long struggle, I finally managed to install TORCS in a custom directory on a Linux *server* (Fedora 13). All files appear to be present ( I compared my custom install to standard install on another Linux machine). However, when I run the executable (located in ~/myTorcsInstall/bin/) I get the following error: freeglut (/home/user/myTorcsInstall/lib/torcs/torcs-bin): failed to open display '' Interestingly enough, this also happens when I run TORCS in text-only mode (i.e. ./torcs -T ). I tried re-installing it, but the problem doesn't seem to go away. I have the following packages installed: freeglut-2.6.0-5.fc13.x86_64 freeglut-devel-2.6.0-5.fc13.x86_64 Any suggestions are highly appreciated. I think you have to set the following environment variable export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/path/to/your/plib/folder then when TORCS runs it looks for any libraries in LD_LIBRARY_PATH folder also. Hello, I am trying to install TORCS on a Linux machine, but I have no root access. I used the --prefix option of configure to install it in my home directory, but there is a problem with the dependencies (more specifically plib). Plib was installed in my home directory using the same method, but TORCS doesn't see it. Is there a way I can change the search path to include plib? Should I create a symbolic link to the plib folder and where should I place it? Any assistance is highly appreciated. Thanks, Miroslav |

I have compiled TORCS 1.3.1 under OpenSolaris 2009.06. I suggest to apply
following patches to the TORCS source code.
