(Better check the simuv3 code for that). You could interface the driver model with that... |

Yeah, currently torcs does not care much what the angle of the wheels with respect to the road is. However it _does_ have an effect, due to how the suspension is coded. All that is missing is a way to make the driver shift his weight.. hm |

Thanks a lot for the patch, I've always thought it was a shame there were no bike models. ;) |

Hello there! A friend of mine has been developing some joysticks, and I'm always in turn of writing its drivers and finding games to validate them. Well, this time it was a (very) cheap moto racing joystick prototype, and then I found the TORCS project. First of all, you have made a *great* job! I'm certain you have already heard that before, but it's really pretty impressive. Since this was just a prototype for validation purposes, I didn't spent too much time figuring out the bike physics. Instead, I just added some hacks to have something visually convincing. Having said that, the patch is obviously not intended for integration, but I'd like to share it with you, just in case someone gets motivated and do it The Right Way. The patch itself is generated against TORCS 1.3.0. I've also made a bike model, based on an ancient object I had lying in a corner of my hard disk. After removing its wheels and doing some quick painting, it was converted to the ACC format. Together with the bike there's a new category, described in Track-Bike.xml. I've basically removed some restrictions, such as allowing the distance between the wheels to be near to zero (I said it was a hack! ;-) ) For those interested, here's the patch and the tarball containing the bike and its category: http://lucasvr.gobolinux.org/etc/bike/torcs-bike-1.3.0.patch http://lucasvr.gobolinux.org/etc/bike/games-torcs--bike.tar.bz2 Some screenshots can be found here as well: http://lucasvr.gobolinux.org/etc/bike/bike-rear_view.png http://lucasvr.gobolinux.org/etc/bike/bike-side_view.png http://lucasvr.gobolinux.org/etc/bike/bike-weeeeeee.png http://lucasvr.gobolinux.org/etc/bike/joystick-rear_view.jpg http://lucasvr.gobolinux.org/etc/bike/joystick-side_view.jpg Any comments are appreciated! -- Lucas powered by /dev/dsp |
